Coming to Philly this Friday night for an anniversary dinner. We will be in town all day Sat. with nothing to do.

Does anyone know of anything good happening this Sat. in Philly?

Beer fests, sports games, concerts, etc...

Any help is appreciated.

yes but who are you going to give your business to?

Now that's the big question when in Philly.

    Gino's or Pat's ?????

WTH do both..one for lunch one for midnight snack..that way you can't go wrong.

Which one do you like? Or some other place. Personally I prefer the local little bar joints or the old guy delis...they're the best in my opinion.

    The cheesesteak conversation summed up:

Some will say Genos, most will say Pats. A couple people who think they are smart will say Jims on South Street then a few people who know what they are talking about will say Johns Roast Pork.

You cant go wrong. They are all good.

  • zzzzzzzzz... this is devolving into another "best cheesesteak" thread.

If you like beer and good food, go to a gastropub - Standard Tap, South Philly Tap Room, Devil's Den - plenty more. It's a huge trend in Philly the past 5 to 10 years or so, and not something you find everywhere else. Most of, say, New York, is too pretentious for gastropubs. ;)

If you really want a big sandwich with lots of calories, do yourself a favor and get a roast pork with sharp provolone & broccoli rabe, instead of a cheesesteak. Tony Lukes, DiNic's in Reading Terminal, Nick's Roast Beef, John's Roast Pork...

    tony luke's by a mile

by the way i keep being told that 5 guys is the best around...never been to one....don't think there's one near me but i'm gonna find one someday soon and try it out

but for hot dogs...Hot Dog Johnny in Butzville NJ is the ABSOLUTE best....I've been there in the summer, when I used to live up there, and saw ppl in cars, motor homes and hoards of bikers from everywhere imaginable that make HD Johnny's a ritual stop on their summer vacation travels every year. It's that good! Ever up that way (near Belvidere NJ, the County Seat of Warren Co. NJ
in other words Timbuktu....) stop in..you won't regret it..even if you don't like hot dogs all that much, you'll love them at Johnny's.

by the way i keep being told that 5 guys is the best around...never been to one....don't think there's one near me but i'm gonna find one someday soon and try it out

but for hot dogs...Hot Dog Johnny in Butzville NJ is the ABSOLUTE best....I've been there in the summer, when I used to live up there, and saw ppl in cars, motor homes and hoards of bikers from everywhere imaginable that make HD Johnny's a ritual stop on their summer vacation travels every year. It's that good! Ever up that way (near Belvidere NJ, the County Seat of Warren Co. NJ
in other words Timbuktu....) stop in..you won't regret it..even if you don't like hot dogs all that much, you'll love them at Johnny's.

it isn't the best thing in the world

a co-worker just said that hot dog line with such love ..i had to put it up

that being said the dog was cut in half and stuffed with the bacon and cheese..it was pretty orgasmic
i post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......
  • Well, if you're looking for a good burger, hit Square Burger at Franklin Square Park, at 5th & Race, it's close to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Constitution Center and Penns Landing. You can get a great burger, fries and a drink for about $8.00. And they have shakes and ice cream too.

If you've got kids, it's got a merry go round, play ground and a miniature golf course. And it's an absolulety beautiful place on a lovely afternoon.

Also, check out the Philly Phlash, for a mere $5.00 to $6.00 a day, you can ride it all day long and go from Penns Landing all the way to the Art Museum, if not all the way to the Zoo.
