So my friends that are housing carpenters deserve to lose their jobs?
wouldn't their union pay them to go picket the housing sites that are using illegal or non-union workers? what about picketing the contractors that use illegal or non-union labor? that is what the carpenters and trade unions do around here, if someone is using non-union workers the union guys get paid to go sit at the job site and picket....
additionally my union carpenter friends are out of work because they are laid off because NOBODY IS BUILDING HOUSES in this economy, not because some illegal alien "took urrr jobs"....

They are losing jobs to people who barely speak english? For real???
And I have to ask, why?
Cheap labor is the only reason……
Not for being ignorant… though, your insinuation is

A good carpenter will always have work. :shh:
I work in the commercial side of construction and 99% of the carpenters I have worked with are W.M.A.s. (part of this reason is 1) unions are racist 2) carpenters have to make an initial investment in bags and tools - most illegal aliens are lucky to have a hardhat).
Now if your friends are landscapers, roofers or pour concrete, then they had better look out.

No. They can compete with the workers who the gereral contractors will hire at that pay scale. Why do your friends deserve working at an increased rate for the same work being done? Many of the day laborers are here, legally. If the pay scale of the job is driven down by the people competing for the available work, they need to lower their rates.
Building contractors are pressured by developers who want to hold down costs because of home buyer and home owner demands... it is Capitalism 101 at work, here. Instead of going after the weakest link of the issue, focus your energy towards going after the root of this issue... American consumers who want 'Always the lowest price. Always'.
Your friends have a choice... work for the wages being paid or find another line of work.

Sorry to hear that Mr. Powell didn't hire your friends...
So who's to blame here. The illegal immigrants or the people hiring illegal immigrants to save a buck?
That's Capitalism for you.. I guess the legal citizens will have to do it for cheaper.
