  • My hope is that this is a boxset that either is an expanded version of "LoTL" with a whole boat load of '98 tour performances, or it's a live collection of pre-2000 live recordings. I hope that it is not a repackage of the Philly Boots. That would be disapointing unless it is a DVD/Blu-Ray release of the Philly shows, which it is clearly not because the ad only mentions CD/Vinyl.

This better not be a hoax either because I am very curious to see/hear what this is.

    From What Records ...

I'm sending this E mail in an attempt to answer many of the questions I've been asked on the phone today and on Email.

On November 1st Pearl Jam release a Super Deluxe Box Set called Death on Two Legs. I have limited information on this as yet but I've put it on our site.

It is an Official release pressed for Island Records by Universal Music. It is being manufactured to order. A version will be available through the Pearl Jam web site but it is unclear at the moment whether it will be the same or slighly different.

I appreciate it is quite an expensive item so I've just added the option to pay a £10 deposit now and the rest will be charged when we ship the box set. The deposit is non refundable as we have had to call the quantity we want already and we may well sell out before release date. Shipping costs will be added when the deposit is left.

To order your copy, either paying in full or leaving a deposit please click the link below.

Thank you for your time, interest and support.

    Cheers

    Tim

I was just going to post this D. 8-)

Im not sure Tim has answered any Q's there at all...

surely a product 7 weeks from release has a full info status by now

and how the hell is this not a sony release if its to do with previous material??

i think you answer your own question....its nothing to do with previous material..its a new live show.

yeah that seems obvious kev, but why oh why are they taking pre orders for something they cant even confirm yet?

Whatever it is I'll buy it once its official. But more live stuff . . . doesn't get me that excited anymore Im afraid. Would much prefer to wait another couple of years for another b-sides.

If that e-mail from What Records is accurate, what's the over under on when 10C makes an announcement about 1. this thing's existence, 2. what it's contents are, and 3. when it will be available for order?

  • I hope 10C post something on this, and maybe the set would be sold through this site with GREAT bonuses.

i hate to be pessimistic mate, and I am normally very much pro tenclub, but i dont see this as something that will happen....like the backspacer release, the gorge release ( a few postcards) and the signed redux set that was a whole disaster really.....

the l;ast great bonus was the advocado release but im very much wlling to be wrong on this...

too right, cant get excited until i know whats in the damn box? I see no point at all in offering for pre order a product you dont know about....plain dumb to me.

but any offifical Pj items are great with me......we can start seeing some new promos to buy then too......

hopefully the promos are a little more in supply that the gorge ones were

Serialthrilla and others kind of swear by it - a lot of people got the Amongst The Waves 7" from them not long ago, and I don't remember any problems at all. I've personally not used them before now.

I had a long chat with the guy and feel slightly responsible for adding to his headaches. It's difficult for him because they have to place advance orders and then increase them if their demand increases. Serialthrilla and Redrock have done business with them and rate them highly. I was very impressed with his manner and knowledge on the phone - and he's been a vinyl specialist and trader all through the 'gloom' years - it must be difficult for similar small to medium size businesses currently, because demand for vinyl across the whole market it rocketing through the roof at such a dramatic rate - whilst CD sales are plummeting almost as rapidly and unpredictably- personally, having spoken to him I'm completely sympathetic to his position, and the adjustments he has made ie the 'deposit' is probably what any sensible and conscientious businessman would do in such circumstances - god knows what attention he's suddenly getting simply due to this thread alone!

Personally I've always struggled with the delay on international Tenclub orders to the UK, and get the sinking feeling when I think of my vinyl flying around the world (and back if there are any problems).

Keeping in perspective that it's a UK business, to my mind the common sense position would seem to be that it's a good opportunity for UK members and maybe European, but everyone else should hold on a few days and see what the tenclub are saying the thing actually is!!

it may be a legit store-but legit stores sell unlicensed merch all the time-used to be a huge business in Europe
The made to order thing bothers me-record companies dont usually do things that way-European bootleggers do
    the funny name
Id love to be wrong, but this smells funny

More than legit. The guy knows his stuff and is good to his customers (the deposit 'thing' for this set it an example). Service has always been quick and efficient and goods arrive in perfect condition. Very trustworthy site/business.

the queen set having the same name

Agree - it could be a complete hoax. Unlikely in my view - but as people have said we have got a slight track record of pearljam.com being 2 weeks behind the traders, don't we? Did Amongst the Waves ever get an official heads up for instance? I heard of it from my friend who is in the trade so I immediately knew 100% it was legit, but others here were speculating - a lot got it from this very site and I don't think any were disappointed. It's now going on ebay at an increasingly inflated rate. I think tenclub could help matters a bit more to be honest.

If I were in the USA I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole; but seeing as I'm not, I'm satisfied with what I've gathered! :)
