  • I think this is the post that will make me open my vinyls. I bought them for collectible purposes at first along with CD's to listen to. I have every PJ vinyl except for benny hall. All are sealed but many times I have been tempted. What ends up stopping me every time is that once they are opened, they will never be sealed again. But.....it's time. I'll make it worth it though. I'll start with Ten and make it a one by one thing ending with Into the wild. I don't know why I didn't do it before. i have no desire to sell. Thanks for opening my eyes, they were made to be spun. SPIN THE BLACK CIRCLE!
wow, thanks for posting.. never thought i could be an influence like that! hah. I was sorta drunk while posting that, but dont let that ruin the inspiration! :D

i think the feeling really sets in when you get to vitalogy.. all the gatefold ones are really special. read the huge artwork in them all while sitting close to your record player! :D

does anyone have any suggestions for a 4 panel record frame? let me clarify this...

i have the No Code vinyl... i've always wanted to unfold it and frame it so the triangle eye thing is showing. i am guessing i would have to get something specially done from a frame shop though.

IMO, the best is to go the a framer with it and make a frme specially done forit.
The no code cover certainly looks great on a wall. The only "problem is that, when opened, there's a "gap" between 2 of the 4 quarters...

  • i have a lots of 7 in vinyls...and i like the art just as much as the music, so listening to them and displaying the art appeals to me...

i use itoya profolios for my posters and prints. im wondering if anyone has found something like these for 45s or 12in vinyls. kinda like a big caselogic cd holder but for records...i think it would be cool. for those who need the crates cause they have a billion records maybe not so much for smaller parts of collections they would be cool...i guess im lookinng for a 7in x 7in itoya profolio, cant find one though...obviously they fit n my 8inx10in one...

also, has anyone found a sturdier case to hold vinyls in than just a mylar sleeve. i recently bought a really expensive 45 (from a different band) and want something other than a thin plastic sleeve to keep it in, perhaps a hard acrylic sleeve...any thoughts?

the punk band NOFX let fans submit art work for 12 of their 7in singles...they all turned out pretty cool.

got them all in alph organized on the shelves. speaking of vinyl, gotta pick me up some sleeves.

lastest vinyl i've purchases was yesterday. led zeppelin's - the songs remains the same 4lp box set. i might have to break out my old fisher price vintage record player to play this gem.

I used wire wall hangers that were supposed to be for plates. Like this:

    http://www.govart.com/hardware_spechang_A.html

The larger sized ones can easily hold a 12" record and are only $1.95 each. Plus you don't have a bulky frame around them and they almost look like they are floating on the walls.

Make sure your styllus is in good condition............
I wish I could get my hands on some really good thick plastic sleeves....
I picked up some when In Melb last but they are a bit thin..
Ive got some old ones from the 70's and 80's and they are nice and thick and have a kinda crimped edges......nice and tough..
  • i found these:

you can find the regular mylar and paper sleeves at quite a few different online sites, im sure some of them ship international. i have a bunch of those, but i was looking for something a little more substancial to protect my more prized vinyls. the mylar sleeves are just a little flimsy.

i think these outa do the trick, they look pretty sturdy. ill post on this thread once they arrive. im stoked but i really want ones for my 45s

IKE is heading for my front door right now so im trying to get all my collectible stuff in protective cases in case it all has to be thrown in the car and trucked outa here!

I just keep in plastic sleeves next to my record player. I don't want to go to too much trouble to get them out when I want to spin them.

well, i guess you dont live in the south, perhaps australia?...IKE is a category 4 hurricane sitting over cuba right now! i live in the florida keys and my island is right in its projected path...

its nice to have your valubles in protective cases so when the time comes you can load em up in the car without worries about them getting smashed... thats why ive been looking for rigid sleeves for my vinyls...the mylar ones just dont cut it...

Demetrious! I bought mine off the Led Zep site and have played it a few times.......Sort of like when it was first released except no pot smoke or 10 teenagers hanging out getting drunk! :) I literally wore out the album back when I was 15/16. Will probably do the same with this one..........

He shot an awesome pic of Dustin Hollick that kinda put him on the map with his photography, was the cover of tracks from memory...Its floating around here somewhere.....I will see if I can find it .......
Shipsterns was a well kept secret until the location got blabbed..:(
Have u checked any of the clips out on youtube u should..

Oh yeah that was terrible about that glassing attack, apparently she might lose her sight in that eye..

p.s click the view pics on the left side at the bottom of page............ :)
  • Ok I've started framing my PJ albums with the $10 album frames from Michaels. But No Code won't fit as it's a bit wider than the standard record case. Anyone else have this problem and know of an easy solution?

so my latest idea to frame my no-code record opened up is this...

make the framing job look like a sash window and the muntins (wiki those words~) can cover the folds and the gap on the panels. i think it would look awesome since the polaroids almost look like tiny windows themselves.

    any thoughts?

I have mine nicely framed and hanging in my dining room. This is the first year we are having a Christmas celebration at our house (since we just moved in). I am very excited to serve my Christmas dinner in my Pearl Jam-themed dining room! Too bad they don't make those Hallmark ornaments of the band. They would go perfectly with my home decor! Haha.
