Here it is guys. Went to the Cleveland show it was my 4th time seeing them. Scott sounded great. I wonder why? LOL. I personally think he is singing with a live track he recorded before the show. None the less its still lip synching in my book. You judge for yourself. Theres no way he can sing after taking a violent unexpected fall like that. You would hear the mic crash too. Lost alot of respect for these guys!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NmRYDZT9hY
Unless he didn't drop the mic - like I said before, he ad-libs too much to be lip-syncing. easiest way to settle this, compare videos of the same song from consecutive nights and see if he sounds identically the same, if he does then he's using a backing track, if not he's singing live.
I can't speak for this tour but when they came through Toronto/Hamilton back in November of last year I was front row both nights and you were so close that you could hear the natural sound as well as everything coming out of the speakers. He definitely wasn't lip-syncing. I don't know about this tour though. I hope he's doing it live. It would be a real bummer if he wasn't.

Ok 2 videos of Dead and Bloated, 2 days apart, in the first one he lets a fan sing the first part, then he sings - you will note the lyric flub when he sings "cause I'm dead and bloated" when he should have sang "that somebody gave me on my birthday death bed"
like Dead Man Walking just said, I've seen them twice this summer, from the front row to the point you could hear his voice over the speakers during quieter parts.
I'm no obsessive fan, I would be the first to show my annoyance if I thought it was true, but there is no real proof at all.
After the first Chorus and into the second verse, the lyric, "Trippin as I'm thinkin, about a boy his name was Sue".
At 1:28 and 1:29 he takes the fall while singing "Sue". During Sue, he's standing, after Sue he's on the ground. If there was going to be a crack in his voice or disruption in the vocals, it would have to be at this point as the mic is pulled away from his mouth.
But, when he croons Sue for those 2-3 seconds it's perfectly continuous including for the one second when the mic is away from his mouth completey at the tail end of Sue.
The only defense I can think for that is that the reverb on his voice is soaking wet and that's all we're hearing at that point in time.
Here's where I'm most defensive:
Weilend may be skating on thin ice with his band (based on previous account of the band walking off stage in the midst of lyrical flubs) and having to put on a good performance. So, Weiland would have the pressure to bend over backwards and continue singing during a fall in order to prevent causing another scene with his band.
He was probably fine from the fall. Security came over to help him up but he most likely waved them away while he was singing so as not to break the continuity of the song, leaving security to lay there on stand-by (which would make it look like the fall was more serious than it actually was) until Weiland was ready to get hoisted back onto stage.
Either way, there's no way of definitively knowing based solely on that video or based on how many times you've seen them in the past.

Yep, what's your point chief? He emerged with mic and bull-horn in hand
Scott Vanilly! Thats my point. If Eddie falls down the vocals stop.

I've seen STP live a bunch of times. I know he carries a live mic
I would not be suprised, however, if he used backing tracks to thicken up parts.
I don't think he would be able to carry on that smoothly. this is all kind of funny though.
I miss my old STP
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Ridiculous logic, totally depends on the individual situation.
P.s check out the two videos I posted - same song, performed a couple of nights apart this month, with lyrical flub in one and not the other - so that night at least, he was DEFINITELY singing live.

but that was definitely a backing track
OK
watched it a few more times, and now Im not sure
the vocals got weaker and there was no megaphone effect
and he didnt get up until the solo
but when he goes over to the drum kit, it looks like he is resetting something on his belt
hard to tell because you cant see him

this is what it really comes down to.
masturbatory speculation
and even if there is a backing track, it does not mean that he is not singing-its not like he is using auto-tune or whatever it is the rappers use
