I'm delighted with my 2 daughters, and they are more than enough for me, but I am not going to point fingers at someone else's choice. There are people who truly believe in not using ANY birth control and letting nature take its course for as long as it will. They're not depending on public assistance. If someone else wants to have a lot of kids, and raises them decently with love, who am I to judge?

you are aware that once a baby starts a supplimental diet, ie not totally breastfed, and that this can start anywhere from 4/5 months, a woman can start menstruating, which means she can fall pregnant. perhaps michelle duggar follows a feeding routine that millions of women around the world have done and continue to do without detriment to their children.

That sounds like the woman would spend a lot of time being pregnant with the next baby AND still suckling the older one at the same time. Spreading herself too thin.

The mother of one of my sister's little godsons had two kids twelve months apart. When the younger baby was a few months old, the mother BROKE HER LEG walking on soft grass in her backyard. Her bones were depleted.

I have not heard of Mrs. Duggar having such issues.

and this was because her children were born so close together?? im gonna call bullshit on that. id say there was some underlying factor that contributed to such brittleness.

Hey! Joking about post partum depression & its really sad consequences is just mean. Do you have any idea what you're talking about?
Who's to say that either of these women (Michelle Duggar or Kate Gosselin) haven't suffered from severe depression already? You may not agree with their choices to exploit their families on television, but joking at the expense of 5 dead children is just cruel.

The Duggars are just an oddity, and Americans like to glorify oddities. What I don't get is that the Duggars are really no different than thousands of Mormon families who have that many children or more, yet in the media's eyes, Mormons are freaks & the Duggars are adorable.

i'm inclined to agree with you on the subject of post-partum depression. it is generally not as acknowledged as it should be, as it happens to varying degrees to most, if not all, women who have given birth at some point in their reproductive lives (thanks again to our biological chemicals). now i'm just making assumptions when i say this, but perhaps to a certain extent michelle duggar's way of coping with post-partum depression was to continue having children all in short succession. it's sad, really, when i think about it that way, especially considering that modern medicine and therapy can help women make great strides in dealing with ppd. but i'd better leave it at that, before i go off at a tangent on religious lifestyles.

but i do have to say that if the media's intent is to portray the duggars as adorable, it's definitely not working on all of us

I really don't care, either way.
Upside: They got enough kids to field a complete baseball game... with all fields open.
Downside: Poor Mrs. Duggars' genetailia. The downstairs wall-to-wall is probably all gone. Duggars baby 19 will have to be secured in the womb with bungee cords and duct tape.

I've watched maybe 5 minutes of the show - I thought the mom seemed nice. How do the parents come across on TV? Do both parents come across as emotionally caring for each kid?

Is there a pool going as to when Mr. Duggars marries and bangs one of his daughters?
I mean, the guy obviously likes to bang, right? And no disrespect to Mrs. Duggars, but her bicycle's done being rode (can labias get stretch marks?). So, at some point... her vagina is going to become.. well, basically a bucket of warm mud. Unless she is on a strict kegel regiment... I'm talking a Marine Green Beret kegel workout.
Being devout Christians... divorce and adultery are out of the question... but, I think there might be a loophole in the marrying your daughters and incest somewhere in the Bible.
So... is there a pool on this?

  • I don't think the Duggars are much worse than the countless families across the world (especially the "developing world") that think its OK to have more than two or three kids. The Duggars take it to the nth degree and get all kinds of media exposure ... But the family down the hall from us ain't helping things either. Its a straight-up baby factory over there ... I can't understand why people would even want to live their lives that way, but alright. Suffice to say, I agree with those who said that we have more than enough people on the planet ...

    You never know, right?
It's not so much the sex... and more about all of them births. Because 19+one on the way... that's got to be doing some serious damage to the cootorial region. Imagine her poor Gynocologist having to survey area every year.
I guess the upside is, this next one should go fairly smooth... 20ith Duggar should come squirting out the thing like a greased piglet down a water slide. Hope the delivery room nurse has a catcher's mitt.
