Where to start with The Smiths?

I haven't properly listened to this band before, and I know they suck big time but I just wanna hear it for myself. So, what at the best albums?

The Queen is Dead is a lifelong favourite album of mine, but they are all great, I would start at the beginning and here them develope maybe

I'm not into them yet, but 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' is a fantastic song. One of the most romanticly twisted songs ever.

My sister played this non stop when I was about 14 to try and sway me away from Iron Maiden but it didn't work and I still don't really like them. They are undeniably great songwriters and I do like the odd song but with the amount of good music you're listening to Ed I don't think you're going to find The Smiths filling a void in your life. It's hard to really feel their music when you're not from the Thatcher generation and if you're not that's good fortune on your part!

Great band, I would go for the singles too. Funny as I've got older find the music less depressing than I used to - must be an age thing. Hubby really loves them.

if you're already past those sad moments then i feel like it would be hard to appreciate... they have lots of fun songs too though... "some girls are bigger than others" comes to mind
