ATHENS, Georgia -- Georgia football player Devin Willock and a recruiting staff member were killed in a car wreck in Athens early Sunday morning, the university confirmed in a statement.

Willock, a redshirt sophomore from New Milford, New Jersey, started two games on the offensive line this past season. Recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy also was killed, according to the university.

"The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy," the university statement said. "Two other members of the football program were injured in the accident. They are both in stable condition, and we will continue to monitor their status with medical personnel.

"Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program and our athletic department. We ask that everyone keep their families in your prayers during this very difficult time."

my PAC8/10/12/9 is going right down the shitter. It’s a shame….in terms of good schools and great campuses, it may have once been the best. I doubt a TV contract with apple is going to save it.

I has to laugh at that.  I think college football is a mess but the Pac 10/12/whatever went to the shitter on Larry Worstcommishever Scott's watch and there was no saving it.

I like the expanded playoffs but I hate the super conferences.  It's getting super annoying.

Sounds like the Big XII is about to get bigger.  As a WVU alum/fan, I guess that's good, but man I'd rather be in a regional conference.  Fuckin' early-2000s ACC.

the idea of the “student athlete” is fucking quaint, too….at least in big time hoops and football.
