What did he say about the right to bear arms? I watched the first few minutes, but didn't have time to hunt for it.
I'm in the camp that the right to bear arms is a big myth that doesn't serve any purpose at this point.
he basically said that people don't have a "right" to bear arms ... it's a privilege you earn and that privilege could be taken away from you similar to driving ...
the larger discussion tho was world hunger ...
he knows how to stop world hunger ... heck we all do ... he alludes to it but he didn't really go for it ... well, not in the first part ... i'll try and check out part 2 later ...

No, I was thinking more about controlling overpopulation. Although it probably isn't a realistic plan as we can't even get most people in the developed countries wearing them.

What do you think the answer is?
if we are talking overpopulation ... i would say henry rollins is spot on when he mentions poverty ... the global disparity in wealth wasn't born out of hard work by some and laziness by others - it was born primarily from exploitation ...
it's obviously a complex issue but i would start by trying to alleviate poverty in many of these places ... i would work on educating people on reproductive issues and stds ... i would challenge international aid organizations that don't believe in condoms to rethink their position ... as you mentioned - getting people to wear them is easier said than done ... i do think education and awareness is key here ...

Well he would be wrong about that.
how so? ... a 10 year old can't carry a gun ... a convicted killer probably can't ...
if thats the case, do we have a right to anything? vote? Free speech?
all of these things come with stipulations. The difference being, they cannot take away the right to own guns, they could make it illegal to drive.

10 year olds carry guns. They can't buy them, get concealed permits for them, but they can carry them. Lots of people take their children hunting and fishing. Wisconsin has a mentoring program for 10 year old hunters.
I received my first .22 in the seventh grade around the age of 13 but my parents restricted my access to it for several years until they felt I was responsible enough to go out alone with it. Overall, I have been a very responsible gun owner . . . although BB guns are a different story
As for convicted felons, you will not be able to buy anything that requires a background check. But rifles and shotguns would be easy to aquire (although I don't know if they are legally allowed to possess them).

can a 10 year old walk around a shopping mall with a gun?
can a 10 year old walk around a shopping mall with a gun?
Probably not (i would hope not). But most 33 year olds would not be allowed either. I'm certain I would be tazed and tackled if I walked into my local mall with a weapon.
I guess it would depend on what restrictions each state has.

State and local governments are allowed to place restrictions on just about anything they want. Anyway, I'm not trying to split hairs, I was just pointing out that people under the age of 18 can have guns.

Americans make up for their small dicks with big guns
Us Aussies dont need big guns we have big ????????
what about the right to arm bears
if thats the case, do we have a right to anything? vote? Free speech?

That's what makes the right to bear arms stupid in the constitution. There is no need to bear arms now and since cars weren't invented in the 1700's, there is no right to drive cars.
Plus: This is the original intent of the constituion. It has become misinterpreted.

The 2nd Amendment says we do. It isn't the Bill of Privileges. Besides all of the anti-gunners fail to see the big picture and that being if the 2nd Amendment were gutted by the courts/politicians, all of the others would be fair game. Free Speech? Nope, you go to the gulag for writing a poem.

There has not been this great of a need to own weapons for self defense in quite some time.

you do realise mick dundee is not your typical aussie don't you? they don't ever put shrimp on the barbie, they don't walk around with big knives and they don't have kangaroos as pets.
the only really accurate thing in that movie, was micks comment to the taxi driver, that americans do drive on the wrong side of the road...

you are kidding right? there is a huge difference between the right t defend yourself, and an ability to operate a vehicle. Do you believe you have the RIGHT to drive?
there is no right to ride horses either...there is no right to transportation. No one will stop you, but you need to secure those things yourself...the government will(in most circumstances) not be able to impede on your right to free speech...do you see the difference?

Wait a minute...some idiot makes a comment about all Americans having small dicks because they want to carry guns...and you get hung up on someone posting a picture of Mick Dundee?
Seems to me that it was just a well played joke on the idiot.

i'm not hung up. sounds to me like you're the one getting hung up. you really need to settle petal. you are kinda grumpy in the mornings.
i'm merely just setting the record straight regarding shrimps, kangaroos, knives and driving on the correct side of the road. i didn't agree with the other person comments.
