Julia Roberts took Eddie Vedder hostage!

BlahBlah Posts: 469
edited August 2010 in The Porch
And what did Julia learn from finding herself and communing with swami’s and gurus? While the guests partied downstairs in the famous club, Roberts threw herself a private gathering upstairs, in a room blocked by bodyguards. She took the whole cast hostage, as well as Julian Schnabel, Josh Brolin (who brought his 16 year old stepdaughter Eleanor–Diane Lane’s daughter with Christopher Lambert), and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam

I wonder if Javier Bardem was in that room too  Him and Eddie in the same room, that could be my hostage fantasy ;)

"Vedder and Brolin hung out l0ngest in the main room, and each were funny and polite. Bardem and Schnabel would have stuck around longer, but they were summoned by publicists who arrived with Roberts’ invitation."

Why am I not surprised... Eddie was funny and polite with the hoi polloi.

    Bet he was miserable upstairs.

I don't know about that being the case anymore. Seems like more and more celebrities and uber-rich people are the ones in the band's VIP section at big shows.

His low, throaty voice reminded me of the "croak" of the Warner Brothers' dancing frog.

Well, just counting the most recent MSG shows, and just counting the VIP section next to the stage:

    -Mary Kate Olsen
    -Ashley Olsen
    -Michael Moore
    -Matt Daemon
    -John McEnroe

...but that's just off the top of my head. Some baseball player I remember too, but I don't follow baseball to know who it was.

Why would he be miserable? He is a rich celebrity. These are his people now. Do you ever hear stories of him hanging with the singer of Fugazi? No, he is at Cubs games with actors and athletes and doing soundtrack songs for Julia Roberts films.

It's pretty simple really...he was vocal about things, so he put himself out there. His and the bands action in some areas show that those things are no longer important to them.

    I'm not judging. I'm observing.

at the heart of the meaning of judgment is claiming to know something you do not. you don't know that those things are no longer important to him/them. that's ludicrous. this band is ALWAYS standing up for what they believe in when they feel the need. Do they/he need to 24/7?

    no.

it's like some people just don't think that Ed deserves to have fun unless it's with a bunch of homeless people on the streets of Chicago.

I went back and read the whole article. what exactly about it makes you think that Ed no longer stands for certain things? the fact that he was at the party? the fact that he spent most of his time with the "real people" in the main room instead of in JR's private room? the fact that he seemed to have a good time?

He's only allowed to have fun with "common people" (if you can call the "downstairs people" that) now?

We're all people. Why wouldn't he have fun with those people too? Should he shun them because they are "famous" like him?!

he hasn't sold out...and he wasn't totally miserable upstairs with JR etc. ... I guess you newer fans maybe don't remember that he has been friends with JR, Dennis Rodman, Sean Penn, and many other hollywood celebrities for a very long time, since the beginning, including going to Chicago Bulls games - during the VS / Vitalogy years - he sold out sometime before VS then. If you can get over it being famous or popular doesn't make something worthless or without soul.

but you judging his antics going by what he says/how he acts is only going by about 1% of the man. you don't know him personally, you only know his sound bites.

Honestly who cares. Eddie can talk to whoever he wants.

We all know what his intentions are with his music and messages. We don't need to peg him and condemn him for talking to other successful people.

Who is he supposed to hang out with Rev the shoe salesman down the road?

Besides all his celebrity friends are pretty good artists themselves. Never known him to be good friends with the bonehead celebrities. And ex girlfriends of his pal Kelly Slater don't count (Cameron Diaz and that Gizelle Buchanan model) I've never seen him hang with anyone ridiculous (other than the time Kid Rock was hanging from his balls at that bar).

Hey he hung out with Catherine Keener and went home and wrote Unthought Known from the conversation he had with her. If he writes songs like that from being friends with celebrities then he needs to hang with them more often.

You shouldn't care anyway because believe me he doesn't give a fuck what you think about who he is friends with.
