I hope SG come to NYC, I've never seen them live, and if I get lucky to see them, I will rock to their music like there's no tomorrow.

I absolutely love Soundgarden and I can't wait for them to come to Europe but....

I heard from a couple of people I know who saw them both at the Vic and Lolla that there seemed to be 'something' missing. Great show, great music, etc. but they felt maybe some kind of lack of interest/eagerness from the band (for lack of better words)? Speaking to people at the show, it would seem others had that impression. Regardless of this, they had an awesome time watching an awesome gig!
Maybe the band just need a bit more gigs under their wings to completely loosen up! They should try a show or two in London - I'm sure that will help!

Yeah I'm sure it's going to take a few more shows before they become a well oiled machine again - it's been a long long time since they played together. And I totally agree, some London shows would be wicked!

Did anyone post rumors about shows in Australia?

    Quote:

According to Australia's long-running rock station Triple M, the reunited SOUNDGARDEN will be doing shows in the country in 2011.

The station's music reporter Nui Te Koha revealed that Australian promoters were at this past weekend's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago "trying to lock down these dates but it will happen early this year."

When pressed for exact timings, Nui said it will be "January, February, March next year."

Honestly I could kind of sense this too watching some of those videos. Actually it seemed more like Kim and Ben were kind of bored or something...it's hard to put my finger on. Matt has been an absolute BEAST at the past 2 shows and I love seeing Cornell do a little headbanging again with the long hair. I agree that they probably just need to do some more shows to loosen up a bit; 13 years is a long fucking break. They're playing incredibly tight right now for such a long time away from each other, but it may take a little longer to fully gel together again and bring back their classic stage presence.

I think that's just Kim and Ben being themselves. That's kinda how I remember them being back in the day. Ben is always looking down and "shooting" people with his bass, and Kim just stands there and slays the guitar.

what a ridiculous and completely ignorant statement.

anyway, i went to lollapalooza and i chose arcade fire. pretty sure i made the right decision. arcade fire, along with erykah badu, were by far the most exciting shows this year.

"their music is just dull" - how so? i would say it is the complete opposite of dull. some of the most intense and emotional music of the rock genre...ever...if you ask me.

On the topic of Arcade Fire, they are the total "IT" band right now, but I just can't get into them. I agree it's a bit dull for my tastes. Nothing against those who like them, just not my cup of tea.

It's not ignorant or ridiculous. I've listened to their entire catalog. It's ok, but far from intense and the majority of it runs together. Even if I love Arcade Fire I would admit that they're about as overhyped as it gets.

Arcade Fire is over-hyped indie trash. Last time I saw them one of the girls in the group literally did nothing but wail annoyingly and flail her arms everywhere - perhaps being in a band she should take up an instrument. Anyone who would want to see them over SG needs to take a drug test.

EDIT - Not to mention because of these clowns most Canadian bands picked up sound like the "Montreal scene" aka depche mode/bowie wannabes who are only getting a pass because people think its artsy.

With respect, and I fucking love Soundgarden, I totally disagree with your take on Arcade Fire. I saw them live three years ago and it was an incredible show, intense and impassioned performances from all members. I can totally see how someone could end up with your view of them, particularly given the ridiculous amount of hype being thrown on them at the moment, but that doesn't make them bad.

To this day I still can't listen to the Strokes or Arctic Monkeys purely because of all the hype that surrounded them when they first hit the scene, I don't think they're awful by any stretch, but I have no desire to listen to them. I think Arcade Fire are probably like that for a lot of people - just as Pearl Jam were for some people back in the day, such was the OTT mainstream love.

I agree with you on Kim, totally his style
Chris gave Kim a lot of props throughout the lolla show (so maybe that was his way to loosen him up?)
Ben WAS rockn out bigtime, if its not telling in the vids so not his fault
Hearing comments that they "lacked" stage presence is like hearing Chris' voice isnt what it used to be
    Absolute bs
    I've seen him 3x SG, 2 x AS and 9 x's solo
His voice NEVER a problem, the sound tech sometimes was
Was really impressed with sound at lolla (but i was in a prime spot so maybe not true for all)
GREAT to hear everyone @ 11 including Chris, instead of guitars @ 14 and chris' vocals @10
My friend @ Arcade stage (a mile away) could hear SG which I thought was SUPER awesome

Chris looked like such a bad ass on the 95/96 tour
  • Was blessed to see Soundgarden at the Vic and at Lolla this year. Last time I saw SG was Lolla 1996--no comparison. As someone else already said--these shows were EPIC. After giving up smoking and drinking, I've watched (heard) Cornell's voice come back to make my skin crawl. Have seen Cornell multiple times on his own, w/Audioslave, and on his own again. Gets better every fucking year, and never repeats a set list or canned joke; unlike FFs, whom I still love, but one show per tour will do ya'...

And if you were close enough, you saw Kim and Ben having a fucking BLAST! Kim's not a jumping guitar player by nature, but he was interacting with the crown and grinning much of the time at the Vic, where I was positioned. Matt was like a little kid again at the Vic, hilarious to watch. And Ben at Lolla, where we were for that show, was enjoying the shit out of it all. He tried to lob an open water bottle at my friend and I on the rail below him (who were over 35 and actually knew lyrics) and missed by a foot, hitting the rail. Cooled us off, though! Fucking stage was so high that from the rail you couldn't even SEE Matt except on the Jumbotron. Thank God for the Vic.

Only thing about Soundgarden I did NOT miss were the fat-ass crowd surfers. Took a major hit on the rail at the Vic. I may be 44 but I'm not giving up the rail until they cart me out!! Been following all these Seattle boys way too long to stop now! Dozens at Lolla but security was ON it.

Best part: Chris pausing at BOTH shows to thank all of those who had supported them (and him) over the years. "You know who you are." And he knew who we were, ackowledging us each on the rail at the Vic. Fucking class act who repects his fans.

    I am :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen: with complete envy.The stage,sound,S.G all spectacular.
I saw them live many times in the old days.Out of all the bands of that time they played in Scotland on every British tour, many could have learned from them.Especially Pearl Jam ... twice in Scotland in 18 years

I just hope S.G make in over here if the tour comes off.I'd travel to Europe if needed.Sitting here with memories of my youth ... not wasted with music like that in my bones.
