Cal Ripken was the best SS of the 80's and early 90's. Yeah, he was more than great endurance. Probably the first legit power hitting SS of the modern era.
This makes me happy.
You know too many people were not talking about him though so he is doing this so people will start talking about how great he is and then he wil say
"Ah shucks lets do it one more time now tha training camp is over"

I shoulda left Cal out of it, Favre isn't nearly as classy as Mr. Ripken. I wouldn't be surprised if he changes his mind by days end.

that is the best (and funniest) Brett Favre story that I've ever read
was like a picture
of a sunny day
“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”
― Abraham Lincoln
I have gotten plenty of mileage out of legendary NFL quarterback Brett Favre in this space over the years as a few of you might remember.
Favre, the would-be president of the Wishy-Washy Club, has waffled on his future in the league more than any presidential candidate has ever flip-flopped on a hot topic.
He’s coming back. No, he’s not. Brett’s not sure yet. Brett’s retiring. Wait, maybe not. Oh, yes, he is. Then again, nope, he isn’t.
It’s almost like the guy has taken some kind of pleasure in seeing how many headlines he could generate. Maybe he’s got an annual bet with Peyton Manning to see who can get more attention in the offseason?
All had been basically quiet on the Favre front for much of the summer, but then came the reports of him working out with the local high school kids.
Then came the reports of Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress visiting him on his ranch.
Of course, then came the typical “I’m not sure yet” statement from Favre about his future.
Here we go again, I thought to myself.
On Tuesday, news broke that Favre sent text messages to many of his teammates saying he is going to retire though neither Childress nor the Vikings’ brass claimed any knowledge of that supposed decision. As of Wednesday morning, things were status quo: Brett’s not sure yet.
Well, I’m going to step out on the weak, rotten limb Favre has had the football world perched on and make a prediction: this will be the last column I will write about Brett Favre for he is going to retire and he is going to stick to it.
Got that? Crazy, I know, but I believe he is finally ready to lay down his crown as the “Ultimate Boy Who Cried Wolf” and take it easy in south Mississippi.
Surely he wouldn’t pull the old one-two switcheroo on us again, would he? Why, yes. Yes, he would.
Even still, I’ll stand by my prediction, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the least to find myself writing yet another Brett Favre column in the near future, eating crow.
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
Yeah, it is pretty fantastic.
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
