I am NOT a NIN fan at all. Cash did it as honestly as it can be done. like Soul said... not a very good song to begin with.

Yeah, I've always loved the NIN original, one of my favorites in his/their catalog.  It resonates with me so much more.  Double that with the fact that I'm just not a Johnny Cash fan to begin with (although I do enjoy his cover of Rusty Cage, and A Boy Named Sue was one of my favorite songs as a kid) and that's why I'm a bit baffled by all the hurrah that his cover of Hurt gets.

I don't get why Eddie sings the Cash lyrics instead of Reznoes, while still introduces it as a Reznor-song. Sing the original lyrics then... you phony.
