Happy Easter, everyone
I couldn't justify $500 for a gaming system where I might only find 1 or 2 games I'd enjoy playing.
Now I am not a video gamer but last one I really really liked was Fallout on the Playstation. Thats what, 16 years ago now?0 -

Now I am not a video gamer but last one I really really liked was Fallout on the Playstation. Thats what, 16 years ago now?Prior to the PS5 price increase, this is typically the time a company like Sony would lower the PS5 price by $100-$150 to entice gamers like yourself enter their ecosystem.I think the big money is in the digital storefront. 30% take on every game. Microsoft may be run by idiots, but Steam isn't. Steam is going to be Sony's biggest competition, so it will be interesting to see if they sell units at a loss to get traditional console players like myself into their PC ecosystem.Sony believes this too .... this is why they are stopping PC ports of exclusive games. Problem is, Sony doesn't have a lot of exclusives worth a darn anymore. MLB The Show hasn't really changed in the last six years. Same bugs, same animations, same crap servers. Gran Turismo is the only other game that draws me on exclusivity, but they probably won't put out a new game for a while. This year we got Wolverine (not a huge comic book guy) and Intergalactic (Seems like a disaster in the waiting). Sony is paying for chasing the Live Service Dragon this generation in terms of quality games.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -
No more Tony Hawk or Spiderman? Those were made by ubersoft? In another world I was friends with someone whom knew the owners very well. I remember those games being huge.Jason P said:tempo_n_groove said:

Who made GTA? That seems like a legacy game that keeps doing well.
But yeah, haven't got around to buying a console for the price and trying to locate one. When they are hot u cant find one.
I still have my mini Nintendo legacy 8bit in the box as well as the Snes mini. Pulled out the 8bit for a minute and realized how archaic it is and why we used to get mad and break controllers, lol.0 -

Speaking of old school, I'm really enjoying Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles . It took a while to understand the job system, but now is a joy to play. The voice acting they added is nice and ads to the atmosphere. Good turn-based strategy game that I would recommend, especially if you are familiar with Final Fantasy games.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

So I wiped the dust off my Series X and fired up Star Field to see how the new update has improved things. This is exactly what I did.
· Loaded game from 2024 and was outside space ship on unknown planet
· Went into space ship (LOADING SCREEN)
· Went into space (LOADING SCREEN)
· Spent five minutes figuring menus out, found the objective and set a course to the objective
· Nothing happens
· Go back to the star map … oh, I’m too far away (???) from objective so I travel to an interstellar rest stop (LOADING SCREEN)
· Go back to star map and I’m close enough to the objective so I set the course (LOADING SCREEN)
· I get scanned and approved to land on the planet, so I go to the star map and pick the city for landing (LOADING SCREEN)
· I land and exit the ship (LOADING SCREEN)
· Oh shit, I landed half a mile away from the city. Back onto the ship (LOADING SCREEN)
· Star map, pick city again (LOADING SCREEN)
· Leave ship (LOADING SCREEN)
· I’m here! I forgot why I’m here, but I’m here. Now it is time to play another game.
I need to check to make sure the update was installed, but there is still lots of work for Todd to do.

Fallout 4 looks and plays surprisingly well on PS5. They must have done an update. I think I could spend some time hunting down Boston Ghouls with Grognak's Axe. I tried playing Fallout 76, but it still looks like a mid-PS4 game and I quickly deleted it before it could set its hooks into me.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Yeah, I recently streamed Fallout 4 on PSN. Hadn't played it in a long time. Looked good and played good. One of my gripes about Fallout games is how glitchy they are. Don't think I ran into a single issue. They def must have fixed some stuff over the years!Jason P said:Fallout 4 looks and plays surprisingly well on PS5. They must have done an update. Started playing "Squirrel with a Gun" on Switch 2 today. It is pretty much exactly what you would expect from the title.
It's pretty absurd, funny and challenging all at the same time.If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
According to leaks (and IGN is verifying), Sony's new God of War game will not feature The God of War as a playable character.

Sony is adding DRM to games. You will have to establish a connection every 30 days or games are locked. We own nothing.I was a little suspicious of the latest firmware update a few weeks ago ... I had to agree to it or I could not use my PS5. Quite the choice ... "we brick your new PS5 Pro unless you agree to a 5,000 page terms of agreement".Sony is off the a hell of a start this year. It seems like Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are in a race to see who can annoy gamers the most.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

On that note the new Xbox head is taking steps to undo some of the damage done in the last year or two.Jason P said:Sony is adding DRM to games. Problem is, Sony has been silent in regards to this DRM issue so no one knows what exactly is going on. Some theories are that it is to close a loophole that some exploit on modded playstations to get refunds and keep games ... but this has to be a very small percentage of people doing that.Sony's blanket corporate response for any controversy in the last few years ....
I think they had an A.I. chatbot in the customer service spill the beans ... thems the breaks when you replace humans with machines.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -
Yeah I saw the post on Reddit about confirming the DRM being an intentional move.Jason P said:Rygar said:

Didn't Sony just respond saying that it's a one time check?0

mca47 said:Didn't Sony just respond saying that it's a one time check?I've not seen an "official" response from Sony. Someone (aka Sony Rep) told Gamespot (a website that depends on Sony to keep them in the loop) a two-sentence statement. And then 1,000 websites referenced this "official" response told by an unnamed source to Gamespot and declared that Sony had addressed the issue and that's that.(artist rendition of the Sony Executive ...)

Nintendo announced a Star Fox game (remake) of the original Star Fox 64. I didn't like that game 30 years ago. Leaks suggest a new Zelda (remake) of Orcana of Time this fall. Maybe a new Mario that isn't a remake in 2027.Nintendo was milking the remakes for several years near the end of the Switch 1 life cycle and I assumed it was because Nintendo was working on a bunch of new games for the Switch 2. I assumed wrong.BUT ... there is a new Yoshi game coming out this month that isn't a remake.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

I almost bought a Switch 2 a month or so ago, and the new releases just werent enough. There is plenty of Nintendo IP I have never played that I can use my kids' Switches to play.
My Steam Deck is also everything I ever wanted in a handheld.0 -
I've just dipped my toes into Crimson Desert, but this looks like a Skyrim-like epic game. The world feels alive and looks amazing. But, I'm trying to finally finish Fallout 4 ... I just downloaded it to see the graphics improvement and ...
Kingdom Come II also looks amazing on the Pro. It's more of a medieval simulator, but not as hard to get into as the first game. Avoid this game if you are looking for a button masher, but get it if you want to see what Bohemia looked like 600 years ago.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0
