For sale here is a matted unframed signed advertisement for the "ALBANY PEPSI ARENA - APRIL 29, 2003" concert of Pearl Jam. Advertisement is 9" x 8"and signed by the five members of Pearl Jam: EDDIE VEDDER, STONE GOSSARD, MATT CAMERON, MIKE McCREADY & JEFF AMENT.

It's not my auction and I'm not going to bid on it, but it looks really cool if authentic.

What are people's thoughts on the signatures?

That was what I thought, but you never know. Nice little poster though, would look awesome framed.

I have to agree, those signatures don't look right.

Looks bad to me. Very bad
  • Ed has started making his "E" somewhat like that, it's how he signed my autograph (and I watched him do it with my own two eyes, so I know it real,lol.). However, looks way sloppier than usual and I'm not convinced. I would proceed with caution.

I'm no handwriting expert (graphologist?), but every signature on that poster looks to have been written by the same hand.

Could maybe understand if one of them looked a bit "off" due to being in a rush or something... but they all look "off"! And was that an endorsed poster? I didn't think it was. And in that instance, would they decide not to sign it?! And for $99... fake.

Compare the sigs to this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0665834384 I know this is real because it's my brother's auction. I was there when they all signed it.

It is tough to buy an autograph on Ebay. The one this post is about is no question a fake in my opinion. It is possible to buy a real Pearl Jam signed item on Ebay though. Asking people on here can usually give you a great idea of what's real and what's not. Real signatures do come up from time to time, you just have to do a little homework.

What does it matter that the band signed an advertisement? I don't understand buying autographs. I can understand trying to get autographs personally, but buying autographs off Ebay baffles me.

I would never buy anything from ebay that is signed. Only from a charity auction. 99% of the crap on ebay is fake. If it comes with a C.O.A. it doesn't matter. I can print out a C.O.A. using microsoft word and you would believe it. Like I said before, I know my brother's auction is the real signatures but only me and him actually know this. He has other stuff that is signed that he has just thrown away. He use to collect signatures but then realized at least 75% of them were terrible fakes. He was young when he bought all this stuff so he was nieve. He use to buy 8X10 photos signed and I can guarantee that they were all fake. Don't ever buy a signed 8X10 photo.

Most are probably fake but I have seen signed PJ 8X10 photos on Ebay that, in my opinion, are 100% legit. You have to know what you are buying and do a little homework.

I have Ed's signature too and I know for a FACT it's his, and it looks similar to yours but not exact. And I have Pete Townshend's signature on three separate pieces of correspondence that he wrote directly to me, including a hand written card and his handwriting isn't always the same either. You can see similarities and can tell they were written by the same person, but obviously, it's not exactly the same every time.

So it's really hit and miss. But I too would never buy anything for a friggin' signature. :?

Seller has 100% feedback...just saying. I've seen plenty of "sloppy" signatures in my life that are real. See if you can find out the "story" behind the signatures. If they signed it after a show on the way back to the hotel and were rushed, the sig could be sloppy.

    Investigate...
