    No, it's not you. Ridiculous. If I were Dan Gilbert I would send David Stern a shit stained cashiers check.
    He who forgets will be destined to remember.

    What Gilbert said was necessary to fire up the fan base and turn this into something positive for his franchise, which helps the NBA.

    They should fine James for embarassing the league in the first place.

    i think the better question is "what isn't wrong with the nba."

    watched a replay of a sixers/bulls game from 1987 last night. yes i have no life, but there was no baseball on........ANYWHO---the game was just so much more pleasant to watch. every aspect. the game itself was more fluid. there wasnt bullshit circus acts during timeouts. every square inch of the spectrum wasnt covered in advertising. made me yearn for the nba's glory days. shame what's happened to it over the years.

    its more about entertainment and people's egos now than the game itself.

    No it's not stupid. It makes the NBA looked stupid when a 48 year-old owner acts like an idiot and a jilted 6 year-old. So they have to discipline him. He should be forced to sell his team, but they aren't worth anything now, so nobody would want it anyhow.

    David Stern is one of the biggest human representations of a steaming pile of shit. Fuck that man, the league will be better once his sorry, haggard old stupid ass disassociates himself with it. Unfortunately, we'll probably have to wait for the clown to kick the bucket as in he'll try and squeeze every dollar out of tight ass until the his last minute.

    and secondly...what's wrong with the NBA? Mostly at this point I'd say LeBron James. He conducted himself in such a self-centered, egocentric, and unthoughtful way...especially by not telling Cleveland about his plans to leave. I just don't see what he did being in the criteria to make up an honorable legend.

    IMO, the honorable thing to do would've been to stay in Cleveland and risk never winning a title there as opposed to running off to South Beach to play on what appears to be the next installment of the Harlem Fuckin' Globetrotters.

    I hope Miami crashes and burns in this next season, and LeBron once again leaves the court pouting.

    I cannot wait to see Miami's first away game in Cleveland. :twisted:

    as far as Dan Gilbert goes...he should've acted less like a child. Making a emotional statement is fine, but his was nothing but vindictive.

    the weird thing is that people are just realizing that the NBA sucks. I thought this was common knowledge

    I love what lebron did. I hope miami goes undefeated and wins it all...further exposing the NBA for the joke that it is

    the nba is full of 'me's'...there are no more teams...miami is a train wreck in the making and gilberts comments reflected his frustration with this...all lebron had to do was tell gilbert he wasn't coming back and then he could have gone on his jerkoff tv show

    God, I hate getting in to LeBron discussions, but that is bullshit... The honorable thing would be to make whatever decision that he wanted to make (he earned his right to free agency), and to sign the contract and hold a press conference... not a self-indulgent, egotistical, look-at-me-everyone, TV spectacle that he put on.

    Unless you are still working for the first company that hired you out of college (and never plan on leaving), then you don't really have room to bash him for wanting to go elsewhere (for whatever reason).

    Never liked him. The King is a big game player anyone see game 5 against the C's this year. That jerkoff took 5 shots. Imagine being a Cav's fan and seeing your superstar only take 5 shots in a big game. King of what, Kobe must be laughing his ass off with his 5 rings. LeBron will never be in Kobe's league. He needs 2 other superstars to carry his jock. I would laugh my ass off he they had some injuries in Miami

    You're right, he can do what ever he wants, he did earn his right to free agency, but was it necessary to make such a big to-do about it?...I guess I'm just saying that I kind of lost my respect for him with this whole ordeal (a TV special called "The Decision"), even more so than when he just quit in the series with the Celtics, and when he stormed off court when losing to Orlando in 2009...I often think LeBron needs to act like a 25 year old man, instead of a 25 year old child. However, this is just my opinion after all.

    Not out of college yet, and sure, I might decide not to stay at the first company I work for, but I certainly wouldn't let them find out I was leaving the way LeBron did...pretty unthoughtful and disrespectful if you ask me. Especially considering that was his home town team, and an organization that built itself around him.

    Again though, this is just my opinion and it is really irrelevant, "The King" is going to do whatever he wants. But I truly feel he could've won a title in Cleveland with a few more years and didn't need this star studded roster.

    I think we pretty much agree... and while I don't have a problem with what he decided, it was disgusting how he did it. All it took was a call in the morning to Cleveland to tell them he wasn't signing there, and then leak the story to the sports blogisphere/twitter-world as to where he was going. After that, hold a press conference if you want... But to make a spectacle ALL ABOUT HIM wasn't a great move at all...

    Yeah, he definitely tainted his image for a long time to come. I'm fairly confident I'm not the only one fed up with his immaturity.

    There are too many things wrong with the NBA to even enumerate.
    However, I still love it more than any other sport and will watch it religiously.
    The bigger question is what the f is wrong with me? :lol:

    Things that are wrong with the NBA:

    * Rules were changed in 2009 that allowed two full steps to be taken before a travelling violation
    * Ron Artest destroys a NBA franchise and then gets a ring
    * Officiating
    * Guys getting paid for 82 games a year but only showing up in the final 10 minutes of those games
    * Guys who are such a cancer to their teams that owners pay them to stay home for several years
    * Joe Johnson getting max money
    * Officiating
    * Teams tanking in the 2nd half for a chance to win a top lottery pick
    * Stern's decision for style over substance
    * Officiating

    The NBA is more sports entertainment then actual competition at this point.

    make the court bigger and raise the rim a couple of inches. the players are too big, too tall these days. on average... how many dunks are there per game?

    make the court bigger, force more running, more passing plays, etc. and hopefully that leads to more shooting. rather than give the big man the ball down low so he can dunk it for an easy 2 points.

    what about steve nash?

    now, there's a guy to make us canucks proud! ... he could have gone anywhere this year and tried to win a ring ... instead he is sticking with his team that he's been with most of his career ... he took a self-absorbed player plus a bunch of cast offs and almost took them to the final this year ...

    I like your list and I agree with all of it actually...

    But, like cdp, I still watch the NBA because it's what I loved growing up, and probably is what I'll always love. Realistically I'm just staying strong until David Stern's sorry ass is no longer in the picture...if that means waiting until his demise...I'm standing my ground.

    What specifically don't you like about Stern? I posted a ramble about him in the Lebron thread. It's seems to me he takes a lot of the blame for a product that has just gone down hill in the past 15-20 years.
