So on the eve before the Big Eddie Solo release of the new Cubs song 'Someday we'll go all the way" I am sitting here wondering if this will really be their year??? PJ and Baseball fans offer your thoughts on if the Cubs will go all the way or who you think might stop them....again?

    Don't jinx it!
  • I'm sorry to say, but they will lose to the Red Sox in the Worl Series, while I have no enjoyment of play-off base ball this season since my beloved Yankees are not in.

I'm a Red Sox fan---so until they're out, I'm with them. But if the Red Sox should get eliminated, I'd be happy to see the Cubs go all the way. I think it would be good for baseball and the true Cubs fans really deserve to see it happen.

    HA HA HA HA ...no.

....they will choke inevitably (I was actually just wearing my "Choke, the official drink of the Cubs" shirt yesterday). Sorry, I don't mean to piss anyone off, but living in STL (and the shitty way our season is ending) the only thing I'm looking forward to now is seeing the sCrUBS find a way to lose again.

    100 years is long enough
    Cubbies all the way
  • yes, but I hope we dont become the bandwagon team for the next year or two the way the Red Sox have been for the past 3 years. unfortunately, that seems inevitable.

we've been a bandwagon team since 2003...you know how hard it is to get tix after that year...either way yes it's our year.

Well, the Cubs kept their fans in 70's and 80's, whereas Boston fans dissappeared. Cubs fans aren't fairweather, so there won't be as many to jump back on the bandwagon.
  • YES! They have a great chemistry, I think they truly have a shot.

trust me, I do. In 1997 when I was a freshman at DePaul we could walk up on gameday and get a bleacher ticket for $15. now $15 doesnt even get you half a parking spot.

fortunately I'm not one of those people who needs to be at the game and will give anything to be there. I'll go to a few every year, but I just want to win.

i do think we have a shot, but we could also lay an egg like we did last year against the D-bags.

    NO.

I second that. Go Cards. I feel blessed that I have been able to see my team in the series 2 times and win one of them. I don't count 85 and 87 bc I don't remember those two series. I wasn't born in 82 yet when we won. But 2006 was awesome.

One of the funniest moments of my life was on a bus shuttle to Wrigley. My buddy is a South Side Sox Fan and I am From Saint Louis. We were driving up during the first game of a double header. Game one went to 16 innings.. so we decided to go to game 2. While on the bus I said... "The cards are due to go to win a world series or at least go to one." The people on the bus through a shit fit bc they thought I was being an a-hole. In reality I was just using statistics. I had to leave the bus and find a new way to wrigley. The Cards won game 2. This is in 2004 and we did go to the series.

In 2004 we lost ( with honor ) to one of the greatest sports stories in history. In 2006 the Cards won a world series with the help of Carp and Wano and little David Eckstein.

i can see them going all the way, easily, but it comes with a price.

    - wrigley falls apart after series victory rioting
    - owner finally sells team for big profit to some douchebag
    - wrigley gets littered with ads like that nearby south side stadium
    - 100 year cycle resets
  • we can only hope that the answser is a no.

Too many issues with starting pitching IMO to allow them to win in the post season.

    Case in point:

Zambrano, aside from his no hitter, has been terrible and sore lately
Hardin can only pitch 80-90 pitches, Marmol is not Marmol (Circa May)
Dempster has been solid, but can he keep it up?
Wood (can he pitch several days in a row?)

also, cubbie karma suggests they will blow it.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

As a White Sox fan, i know all about the bandwagon. I went to 3 games in 2005 and could scalp some good seats for face value or below.

2006, went to 2 games and could only afford the upper deck.
    It's all happening....

only a cards fan could make up a nickname as poor as the scrubs and celebrate how many posts they have at the same time. as always "the cardinals take it in the pujols". as for the cubs, our team is looking as strong as ever, but i will withhold my prediction for fear of being a part of the many curses that have plagued us for so long. cards suck, go cubs
