What does Brock Lesnar have to do with AFL lol?

    Great win by Richmond.
brock lesnar has got nothing to do with afl lol. I was channel flipping after the lesnar/crawin fight and I came across AFL.

Richmond had a great comeback in the 2nd haf. I didn't think they were gonna comeback at all.

Nest week espn 2 is showing a geelong cats game.

Geelong Cats are the best team in the AFL and have been since 2007.
They are awesome to watch, every player is a gun.
They are playing the Hawthorn Hawks who were champions (Premiers as we say) in 2008, they beat the Cats in the Grand Final (our Superbowl) in a upset.
The Hawks have won their past 7 or 8 games now and are in great form.
This match is a replay of the 2008 Grand Final, this will be a great game and I hope you enjoy.

    Watch out for these stars:

Cats - Gary Ablett (last years Brownlow medalist which is the award given to the best and fairest player of the season), Paul Chapman (last years Norm Smith medalist which is awarded to the best player on the day of the Grand Final), Matthew Scarlett, Jimmy Bartel, Adam Selwood.
They are missing guns Stevie Johnson and Cam Mooney through suspension, both magic.

Hawks - Lance 'Buddy' Franklin, leading goalkicker in 2008 surpassing 100 goals, he is tremendous, the most exciting player in the AFL, a big machine that can run and plays small.
Luke Hodge is class, Jarryd Roughead great forward, Cyril Rioli is in a league of his own this year, a magician.

Thanks for the breakdown of the game
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

It was weird. Last week I was out to dinner with some friends and I tried explaining the AFL and how awesome it was. Maybe 12 years ago the local sports network used to play weekly highlight shows running down all the games and I loved it.

Then we were watching TV and I saw that AFL Richmond vs. Sydney was coming on. We watched it and its a great sport. The best part was when that guy horribly hyperextended his elbow, was in severe pain, he got up and the ball came to him and he still made a play....

Sydney Vs North Melbourne today. Go the Swans.....

I'm from Sydney where Rugby League is the major sport here. A lot of my friends won't even watch a minute of AFL. It is such a shame, because it truly is a good game. Involves strength, speed, fitness toughness and skill.

There is some AFL in America. Mainly ex-pats. The Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos did a lot of work over there. He married an American and lived there when he retired from playing and helped create a small league.

Ok, so I've tried watching it before, and I saw it again on ESPN 2 the other night. With Geelong and someone.

    Anyway.....

WTF is going on? I still can't figure out any damn thing!

Like.......they keep kicking the damn ball, and like......goalposts or something or another.....but...like 4 posts???

And they like bounce the ball too? WTF is up with that???

love the game, have no fear

    ...

Thorns2010 - hit between the two middle posts, 6 point goal, the ones on either side are only worth 1 point.. the opposition can take it over the line like an own goal, worth 1 point.. you can't travel more then 15m without the ball touching the ground, some players choose to bounce it, some choose to touch it to the ground

IMO it is an ugly game to watch in this day and age with too much stop and start, the rules are getting out of hand, what is classified as a tackle, etc.. they're taking the guts out of the game

Trust me, it is much easier to understand than American Football.
I have watched many Superbowl's and don't get it.

My Roos are having a bad injury run.
Petrie out again with an injured foot, poor bloke has broken both this season and now again.

And Ziebell as well, 2 broken legs in a year.

Yeah the catch we call a ''mark''.
He is allowed some space and a few seconds to make a decision where to kick/handball to.

Swans are having the worst injury run we've had in years.

    Bradshaw
    Bolton
    Seaby

And then at stages we had Mcglynn, Mumford, Bird Kennelly and Moore out at the same time.

If we get Bradshaw, Bolton and Seaby back and get good time on the park, the swans will hopefully make a little dent on the finals.

    Yes that too.
They focused on the ethnic groups with the least representation.

Yep, and there is also a rule called holding the ball.

This means that when you get tackled you must try and dispose (handball/kick) of the ball properly.

If you fail to get rid of the ball legally (handball/kick) when being tackled, and the umpire deems you have had prior opportunity (like running with the ball or had enough time to kick or hand ball) he will award the opposition a free kick.

On a side note, Did anyone see Mike Pyke's near goal today? That was sensational.

For our Foreign friends. Mike Pyke is a Canadian former Rugby player who plays for the Sydney Swans. He is only just starting to find his feet in AFL. Very very raw.

Born in Collingwood, Victoria, Richards' passion for Collingwood grew out of family connections – he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Charlie H. Pannam (shortened from Pannamopoulos after migrating to Australia from Greece), and uncles Albert, Charles and Alby Pannam, all former Magpie players. His brother Ron Richards also played for the club. The Richards/Pannam dynasty made Collingwood the only club to have been captained by three generations of the one family. As a family they played over 1200 games between them.

all fox commentators are rubbish. bruce is losing it and makes some strange homosexual-like comments.. like "ohh hes a delicious player" re: cyril last yr. quartermain is annoying as hell and doesnt shut up about "the corridor".. just try and watch a walls game with carlton without throwing something at the tv. he spends the entire night floggin his chop over judd. dennis tries to be too funny these days and gets about 1 good gag/1 liner in 10. who have i missed? oh clinton grybas we miss you.

I gotta say I enjoyed in 05, and I am totally biased

Anthony Hudson 'Davis....Davis.... I see it but I don't believe it'

and Quarters 'One last roll of the dice for the Eagles..... Leo Barry you star'

They're iconic and for me, etched in my memory forever.

As for actual commentators, Dwayne Russel is ok, but he always says the same things. Because I only hear him when he commentates on the Swans he will go on nearly every match about Kieran Jacks Dad, Brett Kirk being de-listed by the swans and then coming back, and how his father played AFL with only one hand. He needs new material Paul Bevan and LRT being good tacklers because of their Rugby background.

I like Robert Walls. I respect his opinion, particularly on one week at a time. But I don't get to hear much of his commentary because unless the Swans are on, we get Saturday night games here at 11.30 and Friday night games too.
