Cold Desert, Closer, Crawl an Revelry are
    all solid.

went through their catalog the past two days at work and agree w/ your opinion on Only By The Night - but I'd rank their albums at they were released.

New disc is supposed to be more Youth and Young Manhood...can't wait

I've yet to find a release date, just 2010. Read an interview recently and drummer was quoted that new stuff has Y&YM feel.

when you see a show at camden you're more going for the atmosphere. the music always sounds like shit there unless its in the winter and they have the lawn closed off.

i love the tailgate scene down there though with the skyline over the river and everything.

hershey on the hand...not fan of that place at all. my worst pj show was there back in '03 after they played for 12 hours in boston.

agree Hershey venue is horrible, but it's 10 minutes away. Skyline is great scene from Camden, drive back to Central PA sucks after a show.

    well that was awful.

even the tailgate was bad. they didn't even open the gates till 4. i swear its later and later each time i go there.

apparently camden prefers people to drink along the streets as opposed to the parking lot.

haha, that sucks man. so the tailgate scene disappointed...how was the show?

EDIT -- just checked out the setlist. eh. you only got a few good tunes...crawl, molly's chambers, closer, 4 kicks (love that one), the bucket, and trani. black thumbnail is decent too.

they should play slow night, so long at every show. getting Use Someboday in the encore is like getting Last Kiss in a PJ encore. not good times

I was at the show last night in Camden as well. Not too bad. Sound was ok. Looking at the previous set lists they pretty much played the same songs. I did enjoy the new songs especially Mary.

One thing that really sucked was parking, $25 to park there WTF!? And tit took over half and hour to get out of the parking lot. I'm gonna try and avoid this arena as much as possible.

The Gorillaz are playing there but not sure if i will go unless someone else drives.

Because Of The Times is flawless from start to finish. every single song is phenomenal, if you ask me.

it's basically a tie for second between Aha Shake Heartbreak and Only By The Night.
if Aha Shake and Youth had his vocals treated the way they were on BOTT and OBTN they'd be even greater albums. i still LOVE them the way they are. but after aha shake his voice went from "a voice that works well for this kind of music" to "holy shit this is an amazing voice that will be remembered forever". i don't know what happened after aha shake but he just started singing very differently and sounding amazing.

but anyways, all their albums kick ass. this new one should be great. i read in an interview with caleb that there is absolutely NO POP on this album! awesome. he also said there are beachy songs, chill country songs, some heart wrenching country songs, and some of the darkest, heaviest, deepest groove kol songs yet.

i did like the new songs. that was pretty cool. really looking forward to the new album. but yeah the setlist...eh, i was hoping for more stuff older than the last two records. i think california waiting is a fucking brilliant song and i think they have not played it once this whole year. i just do not understand that. makes no sense to me. there was also barely any interaction with the crowd. and i think they played for a fucking hour and a half. 9:30 - 11 if i am not mistaken. seriously? i was shocked when they left after black thumbnail and didn't come back. just makes you appreciate pj even more. pj's like 15 years older than these dudes and they play almost twice as long some nights.

the tailgate scene was bogus too. the price was bullshit. plus they made us wait until a little after 4 to let us in the lot. there was a line of cars all along that street past campbell's field just parked with people drinking all along the sidewalk. seriously camden? you'd prefer this scene as opposed to opening the gates an hour or two earlier like you used to?

the tailgate scene used to be awesome here. no more my friends. no more.

This is probably the best place for me to ask this. Does anybody know the exact lyrics for the song Soft? To me the lyrics sound like it's about erectile dysfunction, but I'm guessing I'm just hearing it wrong.

I hear you. As I said, "which I can't really say", but I will.....Aaaaanyway, from the crowd that I know have grown to come to their shows - and again with that last album - I know I want no part of it. If they make their way to venues the size of the Electric Factory or smaller, and stop playing 90 percent of their last album then I'll be there.

my interpretation is it's about whiskey dick. he even mentions whiskey eyes in the song

Kings of Leon throw down gauntlet, promise great show this weekend

    By Marc Ethier
    Editor

Nathan Followill wants to kick Eddie Vedder’s (expletive deleted).

Not in any physical way. But the drummer for the rock group Kings of Leon, headlining the Outside Lands music festival in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, said the band is measuring itself against Vedder and Pearl Jam, the festival’s top act in 2009.

And the Kings — a clan of brothers and cousins, all with the name Followill — won’t hold anything back in showing just who can put on the best show for San Francisco music fans.

    NATHAN FOLLOWILL.
    youhearditherelast.com

“We actually just got to hang with (Vedder) in Seattle two weeks ago and I think the booze might have gotten in the way of any relative conversations we might have had,” said Followill, a native — like his brothers Caleb (vocals) and Jared (bass) and cousin Matthew (lead guitar) — of Nashville, Tenn.

“But, you know, he’s a competitive SOB just like we are. So we’re just going to try to go up there and kick their a–. You know, play a better show than they did and just keep the competitive fire burning between the both of us.”

Lately, Kings of Leon have been winning the competition hands down. In January they took home the Grammy award for Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Song for “Use Somebody,” off their platinum-selling 2008 disc “Only by the Night.” And they’ve been headlining sold-out shows and festivals — including this year’s Bonnaroo festival in their home state — ever since.

The band’s new album, “Come Around Sundown,” is scheduled for an Oct. 19 release. They’ve already begun teasing some of the tracks for live audiences, and are all but certain to do so Sunday in San Francisco.

“Hopefully Outside Lands can just keep the train rolling for us,” Nathan said. “(The new songs) have been going over very well — a lot better than we thought they would …

“Every show we’ve played new stuff at, it’s been well-received. You know, we’re just stoked that we’re getting to play a few new ones.”

In the current economy, Followill said the band knows what some of its fans have had to go through to get out to see them live. It’s an added motivator to give the kids something to remember.

“People are having to pick and choose what they want to spend their money on,” he said. “And that’s why when you go to these festivals and see the kids out there that probably spent their last dollar just to get there to listen to your music, that makes it even more awesome and makes you want to get up there and play the most kick-a– show you possibly could.

“Because these kids are sacrificing a lot to get there and show their support for you.”

They are all about the fans now.
