    Hi,
I was comparing two live versions of Come Back:
the live performance in Verona 2006 (dedicated to Joey Ramone) e the one io Berlin 2010 (dedicated to the 9 friend's lost in Roskilde).
The first is a really good vocal performance of eddie and the voice come's out clear and strong.
The last one: eddie's voice seems broken, struggent and it really moves me in the land of pain...

    what do you think?

the berlin version is from other planet....will never be something like that agan in the future ,especially coming from one of the top Black version ever..that why Eddie start to cry when he realize how great life is seeing the reaction and singing of the crowd during Black, how people celebrate a song for Love.....and im pretty sure when he do that...

    sety.jpg

writing the setlist..he knew all this feeling .this up and down and up again will come...Black - Come Back -Alive
he knew that will close with Alive for celebrate life...but he couldnt sing it ..after giving his soul in come back,,in Alive he almost didnt move,,he staring the crowd to take energy,..
this version pass in the history of pearl jam now.....
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

A lot of people say it about the shows they've been to, but you really had to be in Berlin to fully appreciate what happened that night.

Listening to the bootleg makes me emotional, but actually being there that night is something I'll never forget. The feeling of relaxation/joy/jubilation on one hand, and sadness/regret/loss on the other hand created a unique atmosphere that night. It was a celebration of still being here 10 years on while remembering those we lot.

That second encore opening with perhaps the best version of Unthought Known they've played, which completely brought the crowd to another level, and then the band took us on a journey from there.

I wasn't even aware of Pearl Jam back in 2000 and I don't remember ever hearing about the Roskilde tragedy until a couple of years later when I discovered the band. But I could FEEL what the band was feeling. We all felt it.
2006: London Astoria, Lisbon I & II, Paris, Verona, Milano
    2007: Wembley, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Nijmegen
    2009: Manchester
    2010: Belfast, Berlin
    2012: Manchester I & II
    2014: Leeds, Milton Keynes
2018: Amsterdam I, Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Barcelona, London
2022: Berlin, Budapest, Krakow, Amsterdam II

Yesterday evening i listened to the berlin boot for the first time. I didn't see any youtube-movies before, i only saw the video from unthought known. I wasn't in Berlin (still regret it), but that second encore really got me. I also wasn't in Roskilde, wasn't even going to concerts or festivals back then, and heard about the tragedy only years later. But the little speech of Eddie, and then come back; it got me crying instantly. What a moment, i can't even imagine the intensity for the people that were there (and for the band ofcourse). What a great, great band. I can't put in into words (especially not in english).
So no regrets that i bought this boot (also love the end very much!)

I really love this photo!! :) I listened to the boots from my shows relentlessly when they came home and then had a break to re-assess my opinion about them. I listened to Berlin again this afternoon and I don't think the show is as good a setlist as Belfast and the most fun I had was probably London but there's something else about it that makes it so special. Everyone on here who was there says the same things about it and being in the venue that night definately had something that for me felt spiritual and as an occasion on that particular date it felt like we were helping take part in an important part of the bands history. I can't begin to describe it to non PJ fans without sounding like a moron because I simply can't find words to explain the encores and the atmosphere that surrounded them. The second encore is etched in my memory forever and I feel lucky that thanks to PJ and Kufala I can relive it over and over. Many people can add opinions to best show debates but there will never be another show like this one no matter how long a show, how big a venue or diverse a setlist, Berllin is the Backspacer tour's defining show!
Like a book among the many on a shelf...

    Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
    Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/12

this show begin from that cold day of November 2009,and there is no ending...its in my heart,in my soul,in my memory for ever, nothing to do with the setlist,songs,etc...
the feeling ,the faces all around you,the aura.ther whole atmosphere.the pain that become power to live .
is something cant put it in words...
will never be a show this type again in the history of pj shows

Just finished listening to the whole boot. Wow, Comeback put tears in my eyes. Made me think of my best friend who died 2.5 years ago. Thank you PJ for your compassion and your unbelievable lyrics, they just make everything seem okay.
    RIP Linds

Have to admit that I am not a big fan of Come Back, but this version is very moving. Gave me goosebumps.
Ed's voice was beautiful and fragile.
Let's say knowledge is a tree, yeah.
It's growing up just like me.

Perfectly said- it wasn't the set list, it wasn't the 'fun'... it was the profound, spiritual "moment(s)' that felt totally collective- like all of us, everyone in there was feeling the same thing at the same time and just so in that moment- redefining what it means to be alive and how fragile life truly is... maybe MSG II (as many of my friends claim) was the most 'rocking' show of the Backspacer tour, but nothing will ever come close to being what Berlin was- a show I think about everyday- a show that has changed my perspective forever.

I was comparing two live versions of Come Back:

The first is a really good vocal performance of eddie and the voice come's out clear and strong.
The last one: eddie's voice seems broken, struggent and it really moves me in the land of pain...

    what do you think?

'deep breath' - I've always felt that Eddie has an ability and capacity to sing whilst on the very edge of tears. I've felt this since day one. He goes to places where most people would just crack up and fall apart - and he rides the breaking wave of sorrow safely back to shore. This is his amazing talent, and for me the reason why his singing and words are so inspiring, even lifesaving. He must have iron boots or something - cos no matter how much he shakes, shivers or quivers with sadness, grief, anger, fear, he can still stand there and turn it into music. An immense talent, an immense presence, immense person. This version of come back is about as close as I can get to joining ed in transforming this sorrow. It is painful - I've only listened two and a half times. But I believe you can hear in this vocal performance the essence of what I'm trying to describe here. This man is on the edge of tears, probably even in tears for parts of the song, yet he still manages to form the breath, to get it out, get it outside. This to me is why Pearl Jam is healthy and health-giving music - it takes us to the darkest places, but we cope, we contain

There you go, that's my take on this performance of Come Back at the Berlin 2010 tenth anniversary of Roskilde show.....
