Forum on iPhone

I can't read post anymore only see smile faces and quotes that have grey background. Before I could view the forum in the same format as on my laptop now nada . This sucks what will I do while with wife at ala moana shopping mall. 10c please fix

I'm in the same boat. It worked fine until the beginning of this past week. Kinda weird :?

Edited to add: I have just sent a PM to Kat. Hopefully we will get an answer letting us know how to fix this problem

Maybe something broke with the IOS 4 update. The app still works for me on my iTouch but I haven't upgraded the OS yet...

I have not upgraded my iPhone yet and I'm having same problem. I think they are pushing people to buy the pearl jam app. And so I did and it works just fine.

Viewing it on my iPod Touch (with NO app) I'm having this problem.



On my iPod Touch now can't view the forum as before.

Before it looked just like it does on a computer screen.

Now it seems to be grabbing the text and reformatting.

The logo up top is gone. View Your Posts is gone as is all of the options and text at the top are gone. The color-sides of the window is gone. Bottom graphics are gone. Bottom list of active users is gone. Pretty much most is gone.

Looking at the home page of forums.pearljam.com you see a black bar with white text saying "Pearl Jam's Music" with white below that with "the porch", "given to fly" and "Words and Music...." in orange against a white background. This repeats for all of the other forums below that, black bar with white text, then white space with orange text.

When you scroll below those black-bars with the heading for the forums, the only other option is "back to top".

When you click on a forum again all graphics are gone, and there's no text at the top like "view your posts".... all that is gone. You see the PJ buttons on the left side. Background is white - text in orange.

When you look at a thread, the subject has a black background with white text. The rest is white background with white text (or all white to the eye). Only the quoted text shows up in white with a gray "bubble" around the text. It is a darker gray background for original quotes, then lighter as the quotes of quotes are more recent. Fresh quotes have a white background, but with white text, it's 100% invisible.

...there's no way to choose "edit your profile" or "view your posts" or "PJ Home" as everything above and below and to the sides are gone. The little that remains is reformated, mostly invisible white text on white background (or just not there - I'm assuming white text on white background).

This is fairly recent. I only noticed on my iPod Touch yesterday.

I don't use an APP. This is when I use the iPod Touch just thru Safari.

I can't check my pm's with the pj app. Can't check when I use safari. I'm not happy about it. I wish the mods would let us know when they do stuff like this.

I bought the app right away when it came out, but I don't really like it as much as I thought I would. You can't use the PM function. You can't tell if there have been more posts in a thread since you last visited. You can't click on a thread and go right to where you left off. You have to scroll to the bottom of each page to skip to another page, and you can only skip to the next 4 pages or the very last page. So in a really long thread it can take forever to even find your place. You can't view only the threads you have posted in. Et cetera.

I know there are much more important things in the world to care about and I'm sure it's a work in progress. Just giving my $0.02 about why I don't use it and why I don't want to use a mobile version of the website that is more like the app.

Did the mods ever address this issue? Still having problems viewing the boards from my iPhone.

This shit sucks. Can someone fix this? I don't like the format on the app either. Would like to see the last person to post.

I now officially hate this app. I was just in the middle of writing a post (for which I must use the app since the regular board is still unusable on mobile devices) and I accidentally barely touched the back button with my thumb that I'm using to hold the device & I lost everything. So then I started over & was just at the end of a long post & the damn app just shut down on me out of nowhere & I lost it again. I give up.

Any word about this? I would send the mods pm but I wouldn't be able to view the reply. I want to view the normal site like I was before!!! I'm gonna write a bad review about the app also.

I don't have the APP, and just viewing the site on my ipod is problematic.

i just got the new iphone and was contemplating it, but when i went to go to the site on safari i realised the problem everyone is talking about

If you have the app really the only problem is reading your messages. But I have an answer to that in the "answer to forum on iPhone" thread. If you don't have the app then you can't read the post on the mobile site. So the app is the best choice when using the iPhone. they need to give us an option of viewing in classic.

I'd rather them just fix the stupid thing before i give them my 1.99.

I'm no longer able to post anything from the app either though. Plus, the format is just more burdensome in general.

Edit: I was just able to post from the app on my second try, after being logged out on the first try. Still sucks if you write a long post and then it says you're logged out and you have to re-write everything. As long as it's inconsistent, I still say it's not worth it. Very frustrating.
