I'm at work now and can't listen, but they've been saying all weekend the announcement would be on Tuesday at 10:30. So I can't really blame them for not announcing whatever it is yet.
hahaha, yeah really. Screw them for doing what they said they will do.
so on a related note, I looked up STP b/c I didn't know they got back together...I saw they were playing at a festival in Columbus (2 hours from me) and I found the absolute worst lineup for a festival in 2008.

I'd love to see STP again, though I don't know if I want to go see them play a festival-type show... not really a big fan of Staind. I'll have to think about going to this show.
They are "Scheduled" to play a couple other shows before this one, so I imagine they should be back to old form by then.
Plus, I'm sure that they will be rehearsing way before the shows start. Also, everyone has been in other bands in between, so it shouldn't be a performance problem.

Oh man........that is some BAD music! I dig STP, and I give Kid Rock a pass because he seems to play his heart out, but you couldn't pay me to sit through even one of the other bands.........UGGHHHH!

I remember reading an interview with EV years ago where he referred to a new breed of bands that had basically ripped off the most commercially obvious elements of "grunge" and turned the honest expression of some great artists into a testosterone-fueled joke.
Ladies and gentleman of the jury, please see Exhibit A, above. They should call it Wankfest!
I grew up really loving STP, but something hasn't quite sat right with me the past few years. I think that lineup proves to myself that I'm not really into what STP are into anymore...
Give me soulful bands like Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, Kings of Leon, or The Strokes any day. None of that stuff up there has one ounce of soul. I thought STP did at one time, but holy shit!

I hardly think they asked to play with all of those bands. They accepted headlining that festival without knowing who was beneath them on the card.

You know you have a bad argument when it goes, I don't like a band because they're on the same bill as some bands I don't like, even though their music is great.

Yeah I used to look at STP in the same light at PJ...until they went on the 2002 Family Values Tou
Seeing Weiland on stage with Velvet Revolver was intense (smaller club gig). He's still awesome to watch and puts on a great show. But, I doubt it'll be as great to see him and STP in a large venue...

Man, that's not "some bands I don't like" -- that's an entire lineup of modern alterna-cock rock. Granted, a band can't pick every band it plays with at a festival, but they have a choice of which festival they play. You wouldn't see Pearl Jam playing with any of those wankers!

funniest part is that everyone here is getting their panties in a bunch and the announcement has NOTHING to do with Pearl Jam....
