Stupid Venue Names

I'm prompted to start this thread because the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa FL was just recently re-named the "1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre". I certainly realize the revenue potential from naming-right sponsors, but that's a little rediculous. What other stupid venue names are out there? Jiffy Lube Live is another silly one.

Heinz Field not too bad as Heinz is a Pgh based company.

    Consol Energy Center?

Coca Cola Starlake Amphitheater...Post-Gazette Pavilion...First Niagara Pavilion  Over it already...its Starlake to us old school people.

Even when they changed the name of The Civic Arena to Mellon Arena it was annoying.

Then there's the amphitheater at Station Square that's been opened and closed more times than I can count with who knows how many names??? It will always be IC Light Amphitheater to me!

 Guess its all about the $$$!!!

Yeah I don't mind Heinz Field either.(especially when it's spelled correctly) It's nice to be connected to the history of the city as you said.

But was that amphitheater really called IC Light Amphitheater? haha. Really?

Tweeter Center was pretty cool since it was related to an audio/video store. Then they changed it to The Susquehanna Bank Center. And on top of that I got charged $4.00 fee to get money from an ATM they had there. I have an account with Susquehanna Bank. Thanks a lot.

I think when Nissan Pavilion changed to Jiffy Lube Live just about take the cake. Absolutely terrible.

at least the heinz family is a staple in pennsylvania, especially that part of the state.

but yeah, this is one of the things i hate about sports these days. i heard that ashleymadison.com (the site where married people search for other married people for affairs) put in a bid for the new giants stadium. they wont get it but just the fact that they're even an option is pretty bad.

i still refer to the sixers arena as the corestates center even though it is about to have its 4th name change in its 15 year existence.

I wonder how long it will be until the Dodgers and Angels sell the naming rights to their stadiums.

It amazes me how people don't get confused over the University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Olympic stadium here in Sydney was first called stadium Australia. Then it was renamed Telstra stadium (telecommunication company) and now it is called ANZ stadium (a bank)

I went to the first match there after the change over from Telstra to ANZ, half of the staff still had Telstra uniforms and the signs were still up on the scoreboard.
