What's the deal with the SIGG bottles?

Just wondering what the deal with the SIGG water bottles is? Just read about the recall, i bought 2 from here, the one i've used has the lining of the lid falling apart. Probably should stop using it I'm sure i've swallowed some of the lining that provides the seal in the lid.

I read a few articles a while back..I was under the impression the recall/exchange was for Sigg bottles made before August 2008. Can anyone confirm this?

I just searched the news section of Google and it seems like there is not a new recall.

So are these safe? Anyone else have the liner in the lid fall apart?

I bought the streaked silver one in September of 2009. The neck's liner faked off within two months. I emailed SIGG, they got back to me THREE months later. Stating that there were no health risks.... and that I had to deal with the Ten Club regarding returns. I still have the bottle and use it daily.

My EV bottle is fine, but I haven't used it for a while. This is the first I've heard of this, though... :S

I use my PJ SIGG bottle every day at work. Probably my most commonly used purchase from the 10C besides the music.

Yeah, the liner flaked off around the rim of mine too after about the first month, but I also read that it's no big deal. And so far it hasn't been. My water still tasted fantastic!

Yea, I bought a new one and there was some flaking - which is a little unnervring to be honest. I mean what's worse, dying of BPA ingestion or a throat splinter? Dunno. The flaking seemed to stop after a while though, and I still use daily it so I guess it's ok. I also have a Radiohead SIGG and loved using it, but because of the BPA scare it now sits on a shelf on my desk as a souvenir of the '08 tour (next to my white PJ Sigg from 10/28/09, which I haven't used and probably won't)... does that make me a collector?
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Me, too. I loved my original one as well, but the company quickly replaced it with a new one after the recall. So, now I love my shiny new Sigg. :)

WOW the EV ones too??! I always just figured the EV one was not BPA free since they were sold on tour before August 2008, when they apparently stopped using BPA in the liner (according to news releases/recalls a while back). That is really good news!! Thank you for clearing that up!

Too bad that my 3 year old niece just dropped my EV bottle a couple days ago and it has a huge dent up near the top on the front now. Oh well. That's what I get for using it... and I shouldn't have let her carry it. :) I love that water bottle, partly because my initials are also EV. I wouldn't want a tour shirt with my initials on it, but the water bottle is a nice subtle accessory with a very cool logo.

The EV is easily my favorite piece of merch from the solo tour. That thing is sweet!

Well, shit... right you are! I knew that was last summer, I guess I was thinking the recall was August 2009... or something. :)
I didn't actually get to an EV show, but had a friend that picked me up the "personalized" wallet and bottle.

I have the 2008 blue Radiohead Sigg as well. Is that one ok or should I stop using it?
