Brother?
I started listening to my PJ collection earlier today and when I reached the track "Brother" off of Lost Dogs, it occurred to me that without the vocals there is a lot missing from that song. I haven't heard that song with vocals in a very long time, not since I downloaded it many years ago from Josh Wardell's legendary mp3 archive. So, the question is, where can I find a legitimate copy of this song, preferably a studio version? Is it available as the B side to a single, in some imported cd, or in any other legitimate source? Alternately, if no legitimate studio release exists, which live shows have the best version?

Thanks again, be sound
The Ten Redux cd is so terribly produced that I have been able to put my ears through it on only a handful of occasions. I had completely forgotten that a version of Brother existed on that cd. I will definitely listen to it now, but given the poor production quality of this version, does anyone have a suggestion of another version that does not fall victim to the mp3 era loudness war? Thanks just the same for reminding me Brother was on there. There must be a better version though.

They played Brother in Newark. I've heard a AUD. recording, and it sounded pretty good. But, i know you're looking for a better quality, so wait for the Boot, i guess.
Defintely lacks something without Ed's vocals...

I think the lyrics between the two versions are quite different if I remember right.... so hang onto that old version. Or maybe the lyrics were just re-recorded. I can't remember.
Sounded bad live, sounds bad on the boot.

man, that's old school I remember finding that around my freshman year of college IIRC, he also hosted the leaked Yield tracks in late '97.
AFAIK, there are several different studio versions of brother.
1.) from the "Rough Mixes" bootleg. Original mix from 10 sessions.
2.) from http://www.pjcollectors.com/detail.asp?id=1106. A cleaned-up version of the rough mix.
3.) instrumental from LD.
4.) Ten Redux version: roughly same as instrumental, with new vox added circa 02/03.
Wash me in the blood of Rock & Roll
i think they hit it note for note in chicago. i love that version.
Folks these days just don't do nothing simple for the love of it
Pretty sure Ed flubs the lyrics though.

Oh yea. I was at college in upstate NY when I found Josh Wardell's page. Man I thought I hit the lottery. I was lucky too because it was 97 and my college Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute had a top notch computer network. So I was able to download a ton of rare shit from his site at a time where downloading songs was in its infancy. And you mostly were using dial-up, which took a whole day to dl one song. It was great also because around that time, mid-late 90's I used to go hunting for bootlegs with rare PJ songs on it and pay $25-$75. So his site was a godsend.
Then I got into peer to peer trading programs. i used DC++ a while back to attain many of my PJ concerts. It was a peer-to-peer program so you would share what you had for shows so people could dl what you had and others did the same. This was all before Napster, torrents and before file trading exploded. Now a days its much easier to find anything you want.
Anyway, I put countless hours into my collection. But it was fun. I miss those early days, and still am loving the present. Oh, sorry to go on a rant and off topic.

August '09 Calgary show as well.
1st time live after the Ten Redux release, as far as I know.
Sounds pretty decent on the bootleg,
though I think it was the 1st encore,
so Eddie was already starting to get winded!
Cheers.

'it was also on that rarities and unreleased cuts cd that floated around, a pretty good version
it is out there eon torrent sites
pm me an email and I can send a version of it in mp3
probably. i can't really tell though. i think he sounds great on this version though. even if some word's are messed up the BROOOOTHERRR scream is excellent
badly mastered, not produced.
The version on LD is painful to listen to. Mike should left those tacky leads off. I don't care what Ed told him to do, it sounds really outta place. You want bad production, leaving Mike's ill fittin guitar was bad production.
