    I lit out of Reno..

Reno '93 – After catching probably 40-50 shows at this venue with some incredible highlights like; Plant doing Stairway, Jimmy Page doing a header off the stage with Poison, a couple Van Halen sessions, Neil Peart drumming exhibition, Metallica, etc….Pearl Jam came in here with their stripped down stage show and rocked that place like it had never been rocked before.. “Before you leave…I just want to say you're all a lovely bunch of rats and im proud to be one of you.."

My first show, and at times, I think the best.. Hard to tell tho, because I had just got back from an extended Baja/Hawaii run and the ski lifts had just opened as well..So I may have just been in a really good mood, who knows for sure..

Oakland 3 '97 - yeah, funny thing here too.. I’m coming back up from Baja again when I’m reminded by the radio that the Rolling Stones are playing dodger stadium that night. I miss my flight and shoot up to LA to catch the show on a completely arbitrary basis. The show was so good it triggered an event while skiing in Tahoe the next week. Where I cut short a day of carving turns to head down into Oakland to see if the Stones were as good as I thought they were back in LA..They were, and then some, only this time I got Pearl Jam as an opener..Amazing show in pouring rain that felt good. I only wish I had known about the TenClub back in those days, I could have planned so much better..

San Diego '98 - First time a purposely took a flight out of town to wrap a weekend around a PJ show. It proved to be such an effective formula it’s been repeated several times since. Was totally captivated walking into cox arena just in time to see and hear the opening chords of Long Road and it just got better.. This show really sold me in more ways than one. I remember thinking the best band ever, surrounded by the coolest crowd ever.. I finally moved to southern California on a full time basis a few weeks later.

Brisbane 2 '03 - Caught PJ en route to Byron Bay....Free Jazz was breathtaking. Still ranks as best trip ever, may need to do something about that..

Irvine 2 '03 - Jack Irons dropped in to play RITFW..Some preferred night one which was pretty good too, but I liked this night. Loved the mexico reference in this version of untitled which is not to dissimilar from my original reasons for coming to southern california in the first place..

Gorge '05 - This is about the time when all my electrical devices start to become sensitive to all things Pearl Jam..First time I ever got any MLB stuff live.

LA Forum 1 '06 - My first time back at the Forum since the Lakers last regular season game there in ’99 against Portland..The Avocado material sounded great in there.

Verona, Italy '06 - I have no idea how I made this show...needed to get out of LA, last minute flight to germany opened the door..another two or three knots on the nose of that 747 and I miss my connecting flight to verona that I never made reservations for...haunting in some ways, thrilling show nonetheless.

Spectrum, Philadelphia 4 '09 - being a west coast Sixer fan from the get go and never having set foot in the spectrum how could I pass on this show?!?..not to mention all the extracurricular possibilities stemming from such an event that also included a world series across the street. I hung out at the game during the rain delay, then made arrangements with the head security guy at the spectrum to go back and forth between the series and the show but once in the spectrum and PJ started playing, I never went back..loved Bugs.

Madison Square Garden 2 '10 - Finally got Corduroy as an opener.. I doubt I need to add much here, but still no In Hiding..crys

    3. 3/10/94 - Chicago Stadium - My first show and a total old school vibe. 10 song encore back when that was not common at all.
    4. 5/21/10 - Madison Square Garden - Take if from an old timer...it was that good. Best crowd I've ever seen at a show.

Gosh how are people ranking? I've only been to 7 shows and 3 Eddie shows (does that count as 10?) MSG 2 2010 was by far the standout, but all the other shows were pretty darn awesome in their own right too! Well, other than East Rutherford 6/1/2006; the sound where we were was AWFUL, I wanted to cry it felt like Pearl Jam was playing a few blocks away and I was listening to it through giant earmuffs.

    1. 12-07-1993 Seattle Center Arena: My first show on my 25th birthday. Before this show I liked Pearl Jam, been a fanatic ever since.

    2. 07-22-2006 the Gorge: Excellent set list, excellent setting.

    3. 09-01-2005 the Gorge: The intensity at this show, especially when the electric set started, was incredible.

    4. 07-22-1998 Memorial Stadium Seattle: Another killer show. This show needs to be included in discussions of their best shows.

    5. 05-21-2010 MSG: The 2010 MSG shows were my first east coast shows. Must say the crowds at the Garden were very boisterous. Of course the show was killer too. These shows were my brother's first shows too. He's hooked now too and wants to meet up in a different City each time they tour.

    6. 02-05-1995 the Moore Theatre: Fan club only show. Complete WMA, first Lukin', one of Jack's first few shows. Free tickets show up in the mail out of the blue, it'd be cool if they could still do this.

    7. 07-18-1998 Rose Garden Portland: My first front row show (not counting mosh pits). Rose Garden has really good sound quality for an arena too.

    8. 09-26-2009 Clark County Amphitheater (Portland, kind of..): Best of the 2009 northwest shows.

    9. 09-16-1996 Key Arena Seattle: "I got joint in one hand and a bra in the other, thanks for everything."

    10. 07-22-2006 the Gorge: Being at the 2006 Gorge shows night one had the better vibe. However, I find myself listening to this boot more than night one.

    (Out of 10)

    1. Philly 10/30/09- I was convinced nothing would come close to this show
    2. Boston 5/17/10- This one almost topped it.
    3. Philly 10/31/09- 3.5 hours of PJ and Balloons?!!
    4. Newark 5/18/10- 10th show and I still had never heard 1/3 of the setlist. This is why I love this band.
    5. Mansfield 6/30/08- Stone sucking cow teet
    6. Boston 5/24/06- First show and one of my favorite boots
    7. Mansfield 6/28/08- The energy of this show was one of those things you just had to be there for.
    8. Hartford 5/15/08- This show was great but I think I enjoyed being in Newark more than being in Hartford. Come on Hartford, you're getting your ass handed to you by a city in New Jersey?!
    9. Toronto 8/21/09- PJ opening for PJ, and I fell in love with the city of Toronto on this trip
    10. Bristow 5/13/10- Pretty standard show but a great way to open my '10 run.
    2006- Boston I
    2008- Boston I+II
    2009- Toronto, Philly III+IV
    2010- Bristow, Hartford, Boston, Newark

    1. Grand Rapids 2006 - Ten Club ticket screwup put a lot of people much closer to the stage caused this crowd to be unreal, especially since half the upper deck was empty. Highlights include "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" (which first proved that either Eddie watches the board or someone is feeding him info from the board), a sit down amazing first encore, Alive on steroids, and McCready's numerous runs over to Boom during Crazy Mary, which at one point Eddie was playing defense to prevent him from going over there. Out of the second encore break, Eddie says they're putting it in fifth gear...finishes up the show by saying "Grand Rapids, who knew?".
    2. Philly 3 2009 - main set was ridiculous for the hard core who doesn't want to hear Small Town, Corduroy and Even Flow every night. Encore included a Mamasan and Breath, but for kicks, throw Light Years and Parting Ways in there too. Crowd was insane...partially due to some of us out of towners coming in for the last 2.
    3. MSG 2 2010 - after the somewhat disappointment of MSG 1 (partially due to viewing the setlists from the previous few shows on the tour), MSG 2 is exactly what Madison Square Garden deserves.
    4. MSG 1 2003 - a DVD was made of this show. Enough said.
    5. Alpine Valley 2003 - after dealing with the frigid Ice Bowl of 2000, the band books this show on the first day of summer. A long show that was just worked. "Kerry Wood" coming on stage, but in reality, "some fucking idiot".
    6. Jones Beach 3 2000 - The No Code show. Has there been another show with this many songs from No Code? Crowd wants Breath, Ed wants Breath, Stone says no. Ed goes on and says that Stone will fly here in a helicopter but is afraid to play Breath...a mutual disagreement.
    7. Hartford 2008 - sandwiched in between the 2 MSG and 2 Boston shows, this was almost one of those you snooze, you lose type shows. Band felt at ease after the MSG shows and it showed. Clearly the best show of the 2008 tour as the band comes out firing with some gems.
    8. London 2005 - The whole Canada tour was great but of the three I saw (Kitchener and Hamilton), this one stood out. Oceans opener, Black Red Yellow, and just a great overall setlist and great vibe. The band just seemed at ease during this whole tour and I really hope they do another Canada trip.
    9. Pittsburgh 2003 - A unique Mamasan order, the Hollywood Squares, and just an overalll really good setlist. The venue being a complete dump didn't hurt either.
    10. Philly 4 2009 - I felt that this was more of an event than a concert. After night 3, the last night was going to be hard to duplicate, and despite the great rarities thrown in there, it still fell a little short. Still a great show but Philly 3 was one for the ages.

Honorable Mentions: Chicago 2000, Grand Rapids 2004, The Vic 2007, Chicago HOB 2005 (solely due to Plant on stage and Mike in awe of the realization that he was actually performing with THE Robert Plant).
