Helluva good time on the course today. Played with my brother who usually blows but somehow shaved about 18 strokes off his game today.
He birdied the first hole and held a 6 stroke lead heading into back 9. Long story short, he was up 1 stroke heading into 18 and I beat him by 1. He missed a 3 footer that would've tied it. Haha

flipping through last night landed on the Feherty show and he had Paula Creamer on and they did a rapid fire Q and A session. When asked her favorite song she said Alive by Pearl Jam.
Had a horrific lower back injury this past Saturday that ruined my weekend and is making today at work suck big time.
It was actually a week in the making. I went on a golf trip last weekend. Played 27 holes with my friend on Friday, slept on his floor (this was not smart but his couch was even worse), and then played 27 more holes on Saturday in a foursome (so 54 holes in two days after a miserable sleep-on-the-floor night). Wasn't feeling too bad though. Tuesday I had to make a business trip that was a six hour drive to and back and the company car...though nice...for some reason hurts my lower back (gonna use the lumbar support thing from now on). Was starting to feel some pain. But...a trip to the chiropractor along with my usual regimen of half-assed Yoga poses and ice to my back should have me in tip-top shape for this past Saturday's round.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day Saturday at the Conklin Player's Club in New York. You couldn't ask for better weather. And my round couldn't have started better. First hole (actually hole #4 cause everyone with a 2:30 tee time had a shot-gun start because a tournament had just finished up), I had to take an iron off the tee cause it's a big-time dog-leg and I can't shot-shape. Then a hybrid up to about 40 yards from the green. A lovely sand wedge and sunk about a 12-footer for par.
Second hole? More of the same. Great drive right down the middle. Took a long iron into the green that ended up pin-high. Two-putt. Par. Even through two holes.
Hole three....a par 5. Drive hit the fairway. Life is good. Long weekend. Great weather. The two guys I'm playing with are both in the rough. I grab my hybrid for my second shot. Take a half-assed practice swing. It wasn't even a real this-is-how-I-intend-to-swing-the-club-on-this-shot kind of practice swing. Just a half-assed swing like a little leaguer in the on-deck circle would make. And SNAP. My lower back fucking went out like a light. Worst lower-back injury I've ever had (and I've had a few). Didn't even play the next six holes. Just sat in the cart miserable. I did continue playing after that. But couldn't turn my back or even bend to address the ball so I took old man swings (arms only) the rest of the day. Spent the 3rd and 4th of July laying on my parents' floor with ice packs on while family members would bring me hamburgers and whatnot. Fucking sucked...and continues to suck today at work.
That's my golf story from this weekend.
But hey...shot even par! On the drive home, my friend added up the scorecards and was like "I shot a 101, Kyle shot 97, and Steve....you shot an 8."

Ended up doing PT and that worked great. I still do the exercises that i got under the PT and has been good ever since.

Was in the Bahamas last week and played the coolest looking course. Really reminded me of Pebble Beach with a lot of the back 9 being all up against the coast and stuff. Played a whole lot better than expected too. Love this sport.

Love courses on the water. Have played a few different spots with awesome views.
Well Olympic golf is officially terrible. Good things these guys are so concerned about their health that they aren't playing in the Olympics or vacationing in the Caribbean anymore....oh wait..
Hope Reed wins it. That would be awesome.
Sergio has endearing himself to me as well with his comments about playing. What is happening to me....
Is it the schedule or the drug testing that has these guys dropping out? Or both?
golf should never have been put in the olympics. the pros play every weekend for a million dollar check.

I like the concept of golf in the Olympics for the same reason I love the Ryder Cup. I think the format sucks and it shouldn't be a regular stroke play tournament. I think it's unfortunate that players aren't playing as it could be a lot of fun.
I think maybe if they added a team competition to the format, maybe more guys would have played? The way it is now is it's just another tournament in the middle of a really busy part of the schedule.

a tournament with no purse.

Yeah, they should have change things up. Watching teams of 2 play best ball against each other would be very fun.
