There's a lot of misinformation being spewed on here and it's hard to even keep up to correct the gossip column this has become. I have seen no reports about the use of rubber bullets or women and children being "attacked". Everyone saw that now famous picture of the woman and her kids which is a far cry from depicting the entire situation at the port of entry that day. People actually were throwing rocks and rushing the fence, but it was mostly men and only a small contingent of less than 100. Some also were jumping the walls in place between areas. I think the border patrol agents did a pretty good job considering the amount of people in that area and the level of scrutiny they are being placed under all because Trump advertised this as an invasion. Things could have been handled better from the administration standpoint and they could do more to increase the number of asylum seekers they are processing, but it seems some are more interested in making this as difficult as possible, which is not safe to those seeking asylum or the border patrols agents tasked with making sure those reaching their breaking point don't do something that threatens that process and creates even more chaos than already exists.
What happened on Sunday?
It was a peaceful protest at first, says Fredrick, who witnessed the events in Tijuana. Mexican federal police attempted to contain the crowd, but some migrants were able to pass the Mexican police.
"They went down into this kind of riverbank, where there is not that giant steel fence that divides the U.S. and Mexico," he says. "It's a chain-link fence and barbed wire. A group of them started pushing up against that fence."
At that point, U.S. agents began firing tear gas into the crowd for the first time. Tear gas was used again several times.
It was a windy day, and the tear gas drifted at least half a mile, Fredrick reported Sunday. Families with children, including some far from the altercation at the fence, felt its effects.
Ninety-eight migrants were arrested by Mexican authorities south of the border.
Rodney Scott, chief patrol agent of the San Diego Sector Border Patrol, told CNN on Monday that about 42 people were arrested on the U.S. side of the border, including eight women and "a few children."
Some of the migrants threw rocks, and Border Patrol agents "deployed tear gas to protect themselves and to protect the border," Scott said.
He said several agents were struck by rocks but were not injured because they were wearing tactical gear, including helmets and bulletproof vests.
Many of the migrants say they want to seek asylum in the U.S., which is not illegal — in fact, the right to seek asylum is protected by both U.S. and international law.
What is asylum?
Seeking asylum means asking the U.S. to accept you — legally — because of persecution you are facing in your home country.
Crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor; for a person who has already been deported once, it's a felony. Both types of crimes are currently being prosecuted with no exceptions, even if a person later requests asylum.
Seeking asylum at a port of entry, however, is not a crime at all.
However, authorities at legal border crossings have been limiting the number of people who can request asylum. Only 40 to 100 people are allowed each day, Fredrick says.
"People in the caravan who want to request asylum, they're looking at months to even be heard first by U.S. authorities, and then for that claim to be processed can take months or even years," Fredrick tells NPR.
Migrants were protesting that delay.
A spokesman for CBP told NPR's Joel Rose that San Ysidro is limited by its facilities, which can hold up to 300 people, and that the port of entry can process about 100 people per day under ideal conditions.
The federal government is aware that asylum-seekers face a backlog. A report from the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General published in September described the issue.
The U.S. government has encouraged all asylum-seekers to go to ports of entry, rather than along the rest of the border. At the same time, authorities are limiting the volume of asylum-seekers allowed at ports of entry. The "competing directives" have created a backlog, OIG found, likely causing more migrants to enter the country illegally.

Absolutely, one way or another that whole scene was COMPLETELY by design.
Mob mentality? One runs we all run?
Team Trump Treason is just looking for an excuse to declare martial law and suspend freedoms so anyone can be stopped and detained while banning the press from covering it.
The sky is falling hard today huh?
I heard the FEMA camps have been set up and the black helicopters are fueled up and sitting on their pads just awaiting the orders to keep everyone in check.
Just don't be like this Tempo! ... but kinda serious too actually. This is one of the more apt Onion articles, and no, not because of the Nazi comparison, lol!
Different continent in a different hemisphere. You guys are really struggling, because the point is obvious
how is legally processing a few thousand asylum seekers that difficult, and if the US is so bloody awesome at everything, why do you need canada's help? I thought we were useless little brothers to you folks who need constant protection?
The issue is a few thousand all at once in a single location. There aren't enough staff to process them, or places to shelter them while they wait. So then what happens? Either we let them in while we process them, most to never been properly processed after that, or make them wait weeks outside the boarder while we go through the thousands. Everything that TJ's mayor is complaining about is exactly what the problem would be wherever this caravan lands. We do process thousands without issue, but that is spread over 2500 miles and a few weeks.
the US had weeks to prepare. Trump did nothing but stoke fears of an invasion. and then sent the military in (some say illegally).
that article pretty much sums up what we're all stating: the US president is fucking this up big time and other countries are actually doing something to try to contain and help the issue.
That is absolutely not what the article says...
?????? It says, as HFD is attempting to point out, that Canada isn't fucking attacking women and children with force. It's saying that Canada is doing exactly what most here are calling for with the USA. Don't fucking treat the asylum seekers like an invading army. Treat them like people crossing the border illegally. I.e. don't attack them. Process them. NOBODY on these boards has called for just letting people walk freely across the border, and I can never understand why some keep pretending anyone is suggesting such a thing.
Just to put in perspective what the difference in numbers are of people crossing between the US and Canada.
Canada saw an "influx" in border crossings and upped the avg daily crossing to 183 a day compared to the US 1000 per day.
There are more than 5000 in Tijuana right now. That's how many people crossed in 30 days into all of Canada...
Everyone knows that. And the USA has 10 times the people. 10 times the people, 10 times the immigrants to deal with, WAY more money to spend on it, more resources, and MUCH larger government, a much larger pool of people who could help with it.... In any case, I'm not sure what your point is, besides some kind of pointless kind of pissing contest when it comes to Canada and the US, which is weird but keeps coming up.
This crisis is happening in AMERICA - what Canada might do if they were on the Mexican border is beyond irrelevant, since we do all understand what America's capabilities are either way. So is your point that 5000 people (only about 1/6 of the number of people who normally enter every month) justifies attacking women and children with military force (and having a true PLAN to do so ahead of time) instead of setting up a processing centres and other services to deal with them humanely? The USA has loads of prisons with that many prisoners, and they manage to feed, house, clothe, educate, and manage all the administration and paperwork for every single of one those prisoners on a constant basis. The entire US government can't manage that kind of work, even temporarily for one group of people?? We ALL know that the US could set up ways to process these people instead of assaulting children if they wanted to. Trump has very specifically chosen not to do that, and instead created another perceived enemy, for his own political benefit. And again, like his propaganda always seems to, it's working like a charm on a whole lot of people. Each time people find a way to somehow excuse this, I'm freshly flabbergasted.
lol, your whole point is to minimize the assault on law enforcement using woman and children as media shields and physical shields.
I think this too but it's a losing battle either way you look at it.
Sadly, It’s a losing battle for the people that are fleeing the violence that are paying the price for the violent assh’ls at the border.

I would have expected this during 9/11. A few thousand migrants? No.
The sky is not falling...
If, it won't, but if it does, I will apologize and have a sincere person to person talk with you.
You should google "fema and martial law". There were many past conspiracies with that.

Sniper teams have been deployed to where the helicopters are and military units are reporting missing team members.

No... And please, assaults? The reports say "one or more people" threw a rock, lol. Which was the end result of them feeling threatened during a peaceful march in a plea to be allowed to seek asylum. That "clash" was EXACTLY what Trump wanted.

It is crazy how many people have forgotten about the holocaust.
It is crazy. And it is crazy how many Europeans don't even know their own history. I know the US gets bashed about lack of perspective and lack of historical knowledge. But a recent CNN poll on antisemitism shows that Europeans are pretty ignorant and antisemitic themselves.
Anti-Semitic stereotypes are widespread in Europe, with more than a quarter of Europeans saying Jews have too much influence in business and finance, according to a poll published Tuesday.
According to the CNN/ComRes survey into European attitudes towards Jews, 34 percent of Europeans surveyed said they knew just a little or had never heard of the Holocaust, while 20 percent of French people between the ages of 18 and 34 said they had never heard of the Holocaust.
A third of Europeans said Jewish people use the Holocaust to advance their own positions or goals, according to the poll, for which 7,000 people across Europe were surveyed in September.

Sitting at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, with a stack of papers, magazines and a soda at the ready, Trump said he now believes that a pitched battle over the border is a "total winner" politically for his party, and a loser for Democrats.
"I don't do anything ... just for political gain," Trump said. "But I will tell you, politically speaking, that issue is a total winner. People look at the border, they look at the rush to the police, they look at the rock throwers and really hurting three people, three very brave border patrol folks -- I think that it's a tremendous issue, but much more importantly, is really needed. So we have to have border security."
Trump was referring to a confrontation at the southern border on Sunday in which some migrants threw rocks at U.S. Border Patrol officers, although his claim that three were seriously hurt is unsubstantiated.
I watched it before I went to bed last night. Big mistake. I lied there hoping that if my son was ever near such an incident- he'd kick that shithead's ass.
At the end of the clip, you can hear some young lady rushing in and swearing at the oaf. There's more good than bad, but holy Christ... the bad sure feels like they've got a legitimate voice these days- that their perspective is one worthy of not only protecting, but asserting.
These incidents are not diminishing as I thought they might. The rats aren't scurrying when something bigger comes their way.

I am still not quick to say that it's happening more now but that people actually documenting it better. People are dumb enough to film their stupidity now fearing no repercussions. It's out there for everyone to see now where it was maybe reported in the past at best.
I don't understand how someone can do that to an individual...

I'm on the fence about this too. To me it COULD be the same as people thinking there's a pedophile on every corner only because of the news, when in reality crime has gone down over the last few decades.
Of course, I'm sure if there had been neo-nazi marches that ended in the death of someone during Obama's tenure, it obviously still would have been news; I'm referring to the day to day hate that we are seeing in media/social media.

Antisemitism is up here in NY. I remember hearing it on the news. There is a watch group that monitors the incidents but again is it reported more on social media? I don't know.

I'm not on the fence at all. I think we weren't witnessing neo-Nazi marches en masse and small scale violent acts towards minorities prior to this recent era because in the past (and for the most part) those people skulked in the dark. For whatever reason, that movement has become emboldened and now at least seems to display a propensity for public displays.
When they were in the shadows lurking... their impact wasn't truly felt. Out in the light, the movement has managed to affect people and not only that... invite more demonstration given its increasing frequency and support.

as I said, I wasn't referring to the marches like that. I'm talking day to day interactions. since I don't generally watch the news or read the paper, all I see is the constant outrage on social media, which is often magnified for dramatic effect, facts are skewed, or is downright false.
I do lean to the side of what you are saying, that these fools feel emboldened and have come out of the shadows. I'm just not certain that the perception matches the reality.

Holocaust Survivors Recall Exact Day Holocaust Started Right Out Of The Blue
The sky is not falling...
If, it won't, but if it does, I will apologize and have a sincere person to person talk with you.
You should google "fema and martial law". There were many past conspiracies with that.

Third of Europeans know little or nothing about Holocaust

If you haven't watched this then you need to.
A high school kid pins down a Syrian refugee and waterboards him... and they filmed it.
What the hell is wrong with people?!?
At the end of the clip, you can hear some young lady rushing in and swearing at the oaf. There's more good than bad, but holy Christ... the bad sure feels like they've got a legitimate voice these days- that their perspective is one worthy of not only protecting, but asserting.
These incidents are not diminishing as I thought they might. The rats aren't scurrying when something bigger comes their way.
I don't understand how someone can do that to an individual...
Of course, I'm sure if there had been neo-nazi marches that ended in the death of someone during Obama's tenure, it obviously still would have been news; I'm referring to the day to day hate that we are seeing in media/social media.

It's all bad anyways.

I do lean to the side of what you are saying, that these fools feel emboldened and have come out of the shadows. I'm just not certain that the perception matches the reality.
