difference between teh Pirates and Lions/Tigers.....the Lions/Tigers have tried to win for the past 18 years. the pirates have choosen to lose during that time. they'd get a big leage player and as soon as he was producing they would trade him. it sad.

Another difference is that the Lions play (well, played) in a salary cap league, and the Tigers have MUCH more money than the Pirates.

There is a reason why they traded the good players away after a season or two... their contracts were coming up and they would never be able to resign them.

it's true the tigers have more money. they didn't seem to use it as much for a stretch before 05. except for juan gonzalez..that was cool

you guys are right. they just trade away any talent. guess there's no point in trying for them. i would be furious if it was my team.

i disagree with the money arguement. they have one of, if not the best stadium in all of baseball. if they put a winning team on the field, people would fill up that stadium and they could afford to spend money on players. hopefully, the try and keep the newest round of major league talent.
