Was the venue full? A couple reviews I've read are saying there were between 10-12,000 people there, yet I think the capacity of the Q is 20,000. DId it look empty?

My experience in Cleveland has been that the arenas are rarely full for concerts. I believe when the curtains are up in the back rows, that is just the set up for concerts. The only time I remember it being completely full was for U2, Metallica, and possibly the Pearl Jam show in '94. Can't remember what the venues were though...I'd rather it be 10k people who were into the show than 20k sitting on their hands.

Cleveland rarely has a FULL arena for concerts? With all due respect, if thats the case, how did Cleveland get the R & R HALL OF FAME?
  • Sick show. Best show of 9 that I've seen. Something about Sunday nights and these guys. Leash, Porch, Black and Wash. I could not have asked for much more. Thanks Pearl Jam and their fans for always making a Pearl Jam party a great party.

Though I would be insanely jealous, you have been to over 50 shows and myself only 4, so I guess you deserve it more than me! :P

Went to Columbus, Indy and Cleveland, the Cleveland show was GREAT I thought, sat in 124 on the lower part sound was good and loud, great set list, Wash, Immortality, Slight of Hand, Leash, Indifference all at the same show. It was show number 32 for me and one of the best I have seen and I started seeing them in 1991.

As for the crowd, I for one have never really given a crap about how the crowd is or if they suck, I watch the concert and pay attention to the band while they are playing. If the crowd did suck as some say they did, the band sure didn't seem to care judging by what and how they played.

Yes there were sections of the arena blocked off, but I have seen that at several show recently, not just Pearl Jam, NEWS FLASH, the economy is bad, not everyone has money to go to concerts or travel hundreds of miles away to see concerts. The other thing also with people complaining about crowds not getting into it, not everyone at the show is a Ten Club member or as much of a fanatic as some, there are people out there that just go to a lot of concerts and Pearl Jam just happens to be one of them.

People on here like to complain to much, the show last night was AWESOME, ENJOY IT for Christs sakes and stop the bitching, no Yellow Ledbetter or RITFW and they played Indifference for the last song, sounds good to me. The three shows I went to I got to see Oceans, Release and Wash as the openers, that was worth the trip from Texas alone!

The 2003 and 2006 Pearl Jam shows were completly full.

They just recently started to curtain off the upper levels. I know they did the whole top for Fleetwood Mac last April
  • I am Just going to echo Cob's post above, couldn't have said it any better myself. All this business of comparing this crowd to that crowd, this set list to that set list is totally ridiculous. Its just trying to make yourselves feel better being a part of what you think was the greatest concert experience known to man.
It is an endless pissing match that will never be won, not now, not tomorrow, not as long as everyone has an opinion.
Just go enjoy a great show and a great experience and stop trying to prop it up or put it down...nobody really gives a shit how it rates on your personal list or show rankings...that's your own deal.

From what I have seen there are a couple different types that post on the fan view threads.

    1. I went to the show, had a great time ...enjoyed the music (What you actually came for).
    2. I went to the show, it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, it was awesome because they played a song Eddie hasn't played since he was a fetus.
3.Didn't go to the show but sounded cool, glad you had a great time.
4.Didn't go to the show, couldn't have possibly been the best show ever, I WAS AT THE BEST SHOW EVER, oh yeah the poster sucked too so there.
5.I went to the show.... and as a precursor they always say something to the effect " I hate to burst everyone's bubble" and then follow up with, the crowd sucked (doesn't really matter, if I came to watch a crowd I would got to the county fair on free cheese day), they didn't play eddies fetus song , this wasn't even close to the show back in BumFuck Egypt back in 96.

That is my assessment of things an in no way it is correct, I had a great time at the show and walked away with a great memory....To many damn top ten lists on this site.

Ballot stuffing and $65 million baby! Hell they just had the very first induction ceremony here last year. And back to New York it went in March.

This was the 50th performance I've seen and it was a great show. Nice to hear wash again after so long. Hail Hail, and Force of Nature rocked. Immortality was also particularly good. My wife thought it was kinda odd that Ed followed the happy wishes for Mother's Day with a sad song like Army Reserve.
Is this the first time they've played Wasted Reprise into Life Wasted? I've thought for a while that they should do that. It was nice of the band to fulfill the Smile request. Certainly wasn't expecting that since they played it last time they were there. Ending with Indifference was also nice change of pace.
I was hoping they'd play a song or two that I haven't heard before, but that's kinda hard now considering how many stand out shows I've seen in the past 14 years including State College, Toledo with Neil Young, and Philly II-IV. Although I have a feeling one of those songs that got skipped on the setlist was Undone, which I would have loved to hear.
And on a selfish note, I would also like to say COME TO PITTSBURGH, Open up our new Consol Energy Center!!! :D

That would certainly be better than Lady Gaga. I still don't see why they didn't schedule a show at Star Lake (now First Niagara Pavilion) on the 12th between Buffalo and Bristow when no one is there.

Just got home from my Cleveland weekend. I thought the audience around me in section 4 on the floor was great -- met a lot of nice people, and everyone seemed really into it. Hearing everyone singing along with Wash was amazing.

I have a bad 10c number (I didn't receive my email reminder to renew one year when I had a comcast address, and now have a sucky number), and this is the fourth concert in a row where I've pulled not-so-close floor seats. I've been debating whether to just go the ticketmaster route so that I know that I won't be on the floor. But when I looked up at the upper risers during the concert and saw rows of people sitting down, I realized that even if they had better views of the stage, I had that 10c energy all around me.

By the way. the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is wonderful! We got there as soon as it opened, and were among the last to leave when it closed, and still could have spent a few more hours there.

cleveland show was awesome once again! this was my 32 second show and i won the raffle and got front row main floor right in front of stone. this was the best show ever! i threw my hat on stage and eddie caught it and put it on his head for a second or two. i dont think anything can top this one now, but ive been going to pj show since 96' and not stopping anytime soon. STONE GOSSARD YOU RULE. cant wait to see them again.

I'm 17, and this was my first Pearl Jam show. Thanks to my Dad, I grew up listening to their albums and knew their songs before I was in kindergarten. We traveled 11+ hours, and I have to say that this show surpassed everything I had dreamt a Pearl Jam show to be. I didn't think it was possible, but I love them even more! Thanks so much to the guys.
I only wish that I had enough money to travel and see them play in other cities on this tour...

Amen brother! This was show #15 for me and the setlist was absolutely UNREAL! The main set just kept going and going at a breakneck pace. I believe that was my 1st Wash sighting as well. And here I was in Ten Club central sect. 110, and was hearing comments like 'good but not great,' 'standard but nothing special.' WHAT? Did we not see the same thing!?! They played 29 songs in 2 hours and 20 minutes! I think we as tenclubbers are so spoiled by this gift of a band, that we sometimes forget how much other CRAP is out there. I'm an on air radio DJ in the middle of nowhere'sville and get stuck playing Nickelback and Lifehouse and all that other garbage. For those 2 hours and 20 minutes, with PJ playing at that unreal level, I feel like they're rocking out in my living room, like we're family. Appreciate how much the band cares for us fans! You can totally see that in every performance.

This was the only stop I was able to afford this tour, and I will say this, the seats that weren't curtained off were all taken. Probably about 15K there, but if you were in Cleveland over the weekend, the entire town was dead! The only people I saw in our hotel, at the RR Hall of Fame or anywhere else were ALL there for Pearl Jam (which speaks volumes about the band and us the fans). After the concert I was walking in front of some local folks who were talking about the concert and they were commenting how they were glad they played so much of Ten, how they stopped buying disks after Yield, and didn't know any of the new stuff, etc., and sure it disheartened me a little, but I've been there before. Not everyone is going to be as diehard of a fan as we are.

WOW!! I think this might actually be the best show I have seen them play (16th show). It actually might have been better than Grand Rapids 2006, Kitchener 2005, and maybe even Buffalo 2003 (my first show). So many highlights, but for sure mine were finally getting to hear both Immortality and Leash for the first time, both in the same show.

    WOW :?

Ok, I wasn't going to post on here cause well.. I like to keep things positive. But can you REALLY say that this show tonight was better or EVEN CLOSE to Kitchener 2005 and OH MY GOD.. BUFFALO 2003.

    Give yer head a shake.

This show was good. Like most Pearl Jam shows. Leash, Immortality... GREAT!

    But Buffalo 2003 was SPECIAL.

    This show was nothing special.

I hope and whole heartedly believe that Buffalo 2010 will be better than this show.

You would have been best off not posting. I was at both shows, and have the Buffalo show on disc so I know it well. This was my 18th show and personally I think Cleveland was the best one I have ever seen. Opening with Wash is pretty special. Indifference and Immortality are pretty special. Leash and Sleigh of Hand are great songs which do not get much run. Whatever, it is all in the eye/ear of the beholder. Just don't understand your cockiness that the Cleveland show wasn't "special".

Great Show.. I met so many cool, nice people throughout the day!! I wish they were all sitting by me.. The crowd in my section was totally lame. Most of them sat the entire time and even had the nerve to get shitty with me for standing and singing (badly Im sure) the entirety of the show!! They even looked like total douche bags and told my friend they were gonna get pissed before the lights even went down.. But killer set and a good time

I would like to thank the guy at Harry Buffalo for giving me the Advil after the show.. You were truly a life saver!!!

This was #18 for me and the closest seats I've ever had. I was in 111 Row 6. It was cool to see all of the behind the scenes stuff going on. Ed kept talking to the lady at the soundboard turning up and down amps.I also saw up close Ed going to have a smoke, Ed blowing his nose, Ed talking to the crew. It was all fantastic. I was thrilled to hear In Hiding and Sleight of Hand. I thought i'd probably never hear either one again. I loved hearing Wasted Reprise and Life Wasted back to back. I thoughrt it was interesting that Boom doesn't stay on stage all of the time and only comes up for certain songs. Anyway, it was a great show and then out of absolutely nowhere- The Real Me!!!!!!! Quadrophenia is one of my top 10 all time lps and I'm thrilled PJ has covered two songs from it so far. I never actually thought I'd hear the Real Me Live. I was aleays hoping for Love Reign o'er Me but never expected The Real Me. I saw Columbus too but definitely liked this one better. I'm scouring the remaining dates to see if there is any possiblity of catching them one more time but will probably wait until the fall.

    Fantastic night!!!

Couldn't have (reasonably) hoped for better seats. I'd rather be in the wings than the back of the floor. Section 126, row 6. Good people around me, plenty of people belting out every word.

Great energy all around. The guys really seemed to be having fun. The floor at times looked more like a pit than a section with seats.

Awesome setlist. "Wash," my god. My favorite version of "Alive" ever. Everything in between and beyond, just killed.

I am not ready to get back to "real life" just yet. Want to ride this feeling out as long as I possibly can.

Best (sound, set list) PJ show I've ever been to...WORST crowd ever! Cleveland has to be embarrassed. I was embarrassed for you. 25 - 35% of the crowd remained in their seats the entire show. During the encores...my God were they lame. I've heard high school basketball games louder. And the most unbelievable sight was folks filing out of the arena during the BEST closing ever(Alive...followed by Indifference). I'm glad this happened though. I hope the band recognizes it and skips the Mistake-by-the-Lake next tour and comes to Pittsburgh. That shit would never fly here. NEVER. PJ, on behalf of that half-ass crowed...I apologize. Come to the 'burgh and I promise we'll show you the respect you deserve. Go Steelers!

Show was great, best set list! Thought that some of the fan club seats were not as good as some of the general admissions seats which is really unfortunate. If there is a second leg, I hope they come to the Burgh because the crowd would be much more enthusiastic. We saw people sitting in their seats but at the same time there drunk locals that were not fan club members hopping over our seats to get closer. I was just really disappointed in my seating location but the show itself was awesome! Pittsburgh's crowd would be so much better!!
