When I could still get Braves games before they moved to BallyTV, I would record the games then wait anywhere from 45-90 minutes before starting to watch. I could skip all the commercials and most of the down time between pitches. I'd usually catch up to live action in the 8th or 9th inning, which was ok. Doing that let me cut out a lot of Chip Caray's dronings. No offense to him, but he's definitely not as good as his dad or grandfather.

This gimmick is just a huge waste. 2+ hours of rain delay, stands are empty, players forced to keep waiting because of the colossal waste of money to make this game happen is making them keep waiting while the grounds crew dumps bag after bag of dirt dry. Good grief.

Obviously, the “speedway classic” was all about money and probably put in TN because Nashville wants a team. So do SLC, Portland and others. Thing is, there’s not enough talent to expand. Same with every other professional sport, but as long as the rich can get richer it’s gonna keep happening and be portrayed as “progress.”
