5 best pitchers I've seen:Maddux, Pedro, Clemens, & Randy I think we can all pretty much agree on. 5th I'll go with that dickhead Verlander.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

Bagwell could have won the triple crown and had a hell of a chance if 1, the season didn't end and 2, he didn't break his hand and 3, Tony Gwynn floated back down to earth, lol!
After 94 baseball started to get silly. Following the 95 season McGwire didn't average less than 50 HR a year for the next 7 on average...
You knew pretty much EVERYONE was doing it and if you didn't know that then shame on you.
When I saw Dante Bichette on the cover of SI with these friggin guns I knew what I had suspected all along.

^^^No doubt quite a few of us probably knew what was going on^^^. My friend and I use to laugh at the talking heads on TV and reporters were saying the Balls must be juiced. We were like: "The balls are juiced?" HAHHAHA The PLAYERS are JUICED !!"". A lot of those players are around my age and we knew about steroids in HS.Post edited by cutz on0

I'll take pre steroid era baseball over the inflated nonsense of the 90's and early 2000's any day of the week.
Yeah it was cool watching Mcgwire and Sosa go at it in '98....but in the back of my head I was thinking, even during that time, that there should be an asterisk next to the record. It didn't seem totally legit. And then things just got silly after that and the record was distorted even further.www.myspace.com0 -

The Chinese Professional Baseball League returned to action this week after COVID-19 delayed the start of its regular season, and there has already been a benches-clearing incident.
So much for social distancing.
In Sunday's contest between the Rakuten Monkeys and Fubon Guardians, Guardians right-hander Henry Sosa hit Monkeys infielder Kuo Yen-Wen with a pitch inside, and both benches quickly emptied onto the field. Sosa had been working the hitter inside the entire at-bat, reaching a 3-0 count that caused a brief discussion with the home plate umpire. Sosa then hit him with the next pitch, and pandemonium ensued.
Because of the global pandemic, games are being played without fans in attendance, though cardboard cutouts can be seen in the stands.
After things settled down, the Monkeys went on to win Saturday's game 3-1.

Can we put out a list of HOFers that shouldn't be there?
I question Joe Dimaggio, yeah I'm prepared for this one.
Kirby Puckett
Ted Simmons
Ron Santo
Allan Trammel
And pretty much anyone the veterans committee puts in.
I loved Larry Walker but yeah, him too.

I agree with Santo on the field, but his post career work should be accounted for.Kirby was going to get 3000 hits easily and was a stud in the postseason.
Simmons was one of the very best offensive catchers in his time. Would’ve made more sense if he was inducted when great offensive catchers weren’t as common.
Maybe I’m missing something with Trammel but I really don’t see how he’s in.With you on Larry Walker but people don’t remember how good he was.I’ll go Dawson. Bit of a compiler.0 -

With Puckett, if it wasn't for his 2 rings then no way he gets in.
I agree w the Hawk. It's ok to compile, that's what you do but you also have to be great for 10 years at least.
Jim Rice is another one.0 -
Yeah, I realize that is technically true but no way he gets in without being the most lovable loser post career.
Puckett would’ve been a lock without the forced retirement, whether he had rings or not.0 -

You could and e he’s still not HoF. Puckett played 2 fewer years and had 200 more hits and his career stopped dead in its tracks and he balled out en route to 2 rings.0

Puckett?
1st ballot HOF in my opinion.
318 career batting avg. Again, .318 CAREER BATTING AVG.
4 times led the league in hits.
Won a batting title.
On top of his post season accomplishments.
Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....0 -

If you can't see how close their numbers are and how they should be mentioned in the same breath then I don't know what else to say...
