Machado may not hustle but he is pretty good at playing Charlie Hustle shenanigans like trying to break a dude’s ankle after he grounds out.

People shrug it off as "that's baseball", but if it were football it would be a different story...national outrage.

    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/oct/17/houston-astros-cheating-allegations-boston-red-sox-cleveland-indians-mlb

Cleveland Indians have filed a complaint with Major League Baseball about a man associated with the Houston Astros attempting to film in their dugout during Game 3 of the AL Division Series, according to a person familiar with the situation. MLB also says it is aware of a report by Metro Boston that a man claiming to be an Astros employee was removed from an area near the Boston Red Sox dugout during the AL Championship Series opener at Fenway Park last weekend.

During Houston’s series-clinching win last week at Progressive Field in Cleveland, a man with a cellphone standing by the photographer’s pit was removed “several times” by security personnel. The man’s credential was requested by Houston, a source told the Associated Press. MLB said in a statement Tuesday night the matter “will be handled internally.”

Another silly "unwritten rule" about stealing signs... uhg.

So, why not just watch the damn televised game and get the signals from there?  You'd never have to be anywhere near the dugouts or game itself.  Just watch the tv and see the pitches and you'll learn what the signs are.

If they are watching for the Swing or Take signs then I guess they'd have to be in the ball park.

This is silly for another reason. Analytics.

There is data on EVERY single scenario out there.  If Betts has an 2-0 count on him there is data if he swings or not, if he chases a down and away pitch or not.

Baseball is becoming Texas Hold em now.  If you know the odds/percentages then you go with them.  "Gut feeling" of play will be eliminated all together soon enough. So bye bye to the Buck Showalters of the world because this IS baseball now.

They crested that ridge awhile ago.  Thats why a robot like Aaron Boone can be a manager.
  • Bregman at third base and his OBP is .714.  That's pretty friggin good.

Now if the rest of the team would start hitting...

Altuve with a cool laydown bunt yesterday.

Good pitching from Keuchel and Eoavaldi.

Bradley Jr with the Grand slam.

Kemp made one hell of a catch.

Good game up until that GS.

Yeah, we'll never know the details of the "settlement", which isn't surprising. I'm a lifelong diehard Astros fan and it really bothered me when they signed him. He can pitch, sure...but I wonder what that truly did to the clubhouse.

As for the game last night, McHugh should have come in instead of Osuna. The Astros need to start hitting asap. It wouldn't surprise me if AJ switches up the lineup a bit tonight.

Let's just say that Chapman got 30 games for choking his girlfriend and shooting a gun into a wall.  Reyes got 50 games for choking his wife and throwing her into a glass door.  I am no fan of Chapman and it sucks having to root for him, but for 75 games on a hush hush settlement, it has to be significantly worse than those, right?

That's how I feel about Addison Russell now.  (Not that I didn't feel that way before Melisa's blog post, with his .240 career average and 38 RBI this season).

    Aaahh...who says punctuation doesn't matter. ;)

And I bet MLB does what it normally does...waits for it to blow over and slinks away like Carl Spackler after he blew up Bushwood.
