Rangers got voter approval to build a new stadium with a retractable roof. So we will be losing our beautiful ballpark in a few years. The owners and GM say that air conditioning will help attract better players.
I can't believe these people say this stuff with a straight face. What it will bring is higher ticket prices and even less parking. The area is already a clusterfuck being right next to Jerryworld.

higher ticket prices AFTER your tax dollars pay for a new stadium. public funded stadiums should never happen.Who Princess said:Rangers got voter approval to build a new stadium with a retractable roof. It annoys me no end. Taxpayers already picked up the tab for the current stadium and are still paying for Jerryworld.Wobbie said:

They'll probably give it to Roberts even though the front office made all the decisionsDegeneratefk said:

Do you mean win games in the playoffs or just in general? Because I could've sworn that Texas led the AL in wins this year.Who Princess said:Rangers got voter approval to build a new stadium with a retractable roof. Crazy that they're getting a new stadium when their current stadium opened in 1994. Same with the Braves.Who Princess said:Rangers got voter approval to build a new stadium with a retractable roof. both stadiums are completely serviceable. I'd say any stadium ought to have, at minimum, a 40 year life.Indifference71 said:

Want more attendance? TRY WINNING SOME GAMES.Rangers did have a good season until the playoffs, then they didn't waste much time collapsing. I meant more that the stadium actually sells out when something brings people out, like when they play the Red Sox or when Darvish returned after being out for Tommy John surgery.
When they first proposed this new stadium, I read an interview with the architect who designed the current stadium. He said they built it to last 100 years.Indifference71 said:Crazy that they're getting a new stadium when their current stadium opened in 1994. Same with the Braves.

Mattingly is a candidate for MOY, he just didn't finish in the top 3. The voting was already done. They only name the top 3 vote-getters as "finalists" for the awards.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

Obviously they're all candidates. I made a mistake. I meant finalist. Either way all 3 finalists were already on playoff ready teams. I would give it to Baker I guessHesCalledDyer said:Mattingly is a candidate for MOY, he just didn't finish in the top 3. The voting was already done. I'm giving up my Braves fan card (not really). I understand wanting some veteran pitchers as a stopgap to the arms on the farm, but signing both RA Dickey and Bartolo Colon? Ugh. To steal a line from ESPN's Crasnick, the Braves aren't going to have to worry about ERA as much as they will about AARP.0
