This is absolutely insane. $214 mil and Prince will be playing first and Miggy is going to have to change roles. How happy could he be about that? Slightly different than a Hanley situation in my mind. Asking a 28 year old to be come a full time DH, espcially someone like Caberea is absolutely nuts.

Edit: I guess it's a pretty god damn good problem to have though. I just can't wrap my mind around it.

As a tigers fan, im loving this move. Losing Martinez was going to be pretty hard to overcome. Now, not so much.

No doubt, my follow up said you guys have 2 of the top 5 hitters in the game in your lineup in their prime. I just don't know what they'll do with Martinez once he comes back and it's pretty crazy that a player like Caberea is going to be relegated to DH.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cabrera moves to third. Hes alot more athletic than anyone outside of Detroit gives him credit for. Either way though, I'm absolutely stoked that the Tigers got Prince.

    GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if theyre gonna try Cabrera at 3rd again. That didnt work so well the first time and he was pretty good in the field at first last season. Much improved.

I can't see him at 3rd long term but maybe the 2 bats make up for the brutal defense at 3rd.

i know they forced the move...doesn't mean i have to like it! :D

i think Colt 45's would be the only name change that I could stomach...at least it's their original name.

I know. 3rd base has been such a huge hole in their batting lineup though, if he could pull it off they would be so much better.

He actually wasn't that bad at 3rd when he first came to Detroit. The bigger reason they made the switch was because how bad Guillen was at 1st. Cabrera is a pretty good athlete, as evidenced by how he has improved defensively at 1st. I think he can play a respectable 3rd base with some work, and by work I mean a diet. If he can drop 25 pounds or so he'll be just fine at 3rd... And the real bright spot in all of this is we can send that loser Inge packing once and for all... Go Tigers!

Cabrera said he's moving to 3rd and that he's ok with the move. He said the team asked him about it before the deal was done and he told them he wouldn't be bothered by it so that'll take care of how they handle playing time when Martinez comes back.

The Tigers infield defense is going to be pretty amusing to watch this year.
