It would be match the Red Sox in 1978. Detroit had a 14-game lead on July 8. Since then the Tigers are 26-34 while Cleveland is 43-24.

Cleveland was in 4th place, 15.5 games back on July 8th.

9.5 games back on September 10th.  That might be even crazier.  It took less than 2 weeks and the teams didn't even play monday.

Right, I was referring to the size of the lead at any point. The seven-game lead was the Mets' biggest point in 2007. I remembered they won 33 of their first 50, slumped through June and then began showing signs when the Phillies swept them in Philadelphia at the end of August.

    Crazy
  • I remember the giants collapsing to Atlanta.

    Angels collapse mid 90's.
  • I don’t like the Tigers trying to out-Mets the Mets. If I know my team, they’ll respond in a big way this final weekend and show Detroit how it’s really done. Looking forward to it.

they didn’t collapse. after their lead reached 10 games, they went 38-27. meanwhile the cocksucking padres traded mcgriff IN DIVISION to the braves and the braves went 49-16, thereafter. the cocksucking manager of the padres also started derek bell at 3rd base in a four game series vs. atlanta. bell said he hadn’t played 3B since HS. he committed 3 errors while the braves took 3 of 4.

and that’s why the padres are cocksuckers.

same cocksuckers blew a pretty sizeable lead in 2010 over the WS Champ Giants.

1951 Giants overcame a 13 games deficit by going 38-8 over the final 47. d*dgers didn’t technically collapse.

lol!  I know you hated that McGriff trade!
  • So.  Raleigh with 59 & 60 HR's.

    Judge with 50 & 51.

    Schwarber with 56.

    Ohtani with 53.

Soto hit his 43rd. His streak may be too little too late.

    Alonso with 37 and a 271 avg.

So Carrol and Soto already have a 30/30 season.  Lindor and PCA are 1 away from the feat.

Chizzolm and the most underrated player in baseball Jose Ramirez have 30/30.  Julio Rodrigues is really close.
    Arozarena has a slim chance.

3 games left.  Lets see some career stats for these guys on the cusp!

Cleveland is going to win the Central by 5 games, lol

the Tigers look dead on their feet...

but as a Sabres/Bills/Indians fan, I know how the movie plays out.  Cleveland wins the Division, Detroit looks beat, then Detroit defeats Cleveland in the Wild Card round.
