Very happy the Astors and Phillies both blew 3-2 leads at home. Think the World Series is worth watching no matter the teams.

I wonder if this is the first championship series/game in any of the four major U.S. sports where the two teams are named after their state instead of their city. Arizona vs. Texas. This is the only interesting tidbit I can think of for this series.....and it's not even interesting.

I'll be rooting for Texas. Never won the World Series and it's always seemed to me like they have a pretty passionate fanbase in spite of that.

i'm rooting for the Rangers as well.

I've been on the Marte train for a while.  Soooo underrated.

Seriously, check his stats last couple of years.

But the league wanted US to win! And if we make a lot of noise at the games, we will definitely win!

As a baseball fan, I'll definitely watch the series. I'm not really going to be rooting for anyone, though. Just want to see a good series.

Which is sad because there are some damn good players on those teams.

So how in the hell did a team like the Dallas Cowboys, a central state, get so much love?  Because they won?

Primarily because they were on national tv every single week for multiple decades and everyone knew them. Most people outside of Phoenix and Arlington do not know anything about these two teams.

I wasnt sure why the Cowboys were but that makes sense.

Its a shame nobody knows them.  When Pitt made it to the playoffs I was excited to see McCutchen play but was a short series.

Its games like these that people can start liking other players.

I get what you are saying, but everybody always wants a major market team in the finals. Yes, they draw the ratings due to their respective markets, but if you are in the league you are in the league and should have a chance to compete for the championship. Otherwise get rid of all the small market teams and have a NY/LA/CHI premier league.
i think it is good for all of the major leagues to have all markets represented and have a chance to win.

***Except the Phoenix Coyotes and possibly the Oakland A’s which are both detrimental to their leagues lol

Dont disagree, but the teams are mostly boring.  Each has one player who seems exciting, even to a pretty engaged fan.

    ONE each????

    come on.
    Wobert, gimme your take!
I think everyone, except maybe Eva, on the d-bags is exciting.

the rangers are about half exciting.

sorry neither team has a guy who looks like a meth cook.

I’m more than happy to finally have a World Series where I’m not rooting passionately for one team or vehemently against one. I just want to see 6 or 7 games of good, fun baseball.  That said I do hope Tommy Pham goes 0-26 with 15 strikeouts lol.

same. you hate pham because you’re a cubs fan and he’s an ex-cardinal? I don’t like the guy either, party because he said he’d “pimp slap” my boy joc pederson (over a fantasy football beef). I haven’t even decided who I’m gonna root for….mosty likely bochy’s rangers.

Not sure about the lowest but yeah it will be up there (or down there) as one of the lowest watched WS. Don't feel like googling it but anyone know the least watched WS ever? I would have to think it would be in the 80's/90's maybe?

edit: oh wow the past 3 world series were the least watched WS. So yeah this one will probably definitely be the least watched one ever.

  • I don't think they capture streaming and such in those numbers. Or maybe nobody watches outside the home markets. Besides last year I've barely watched them probably since the Cubs one. Anyway I definitely won't be watching the first two games since I'll be at MMJ shows bitches!

Just with viewing habits, alone, playing a factor this has a great shot to be the lowest.Johnny Abruzzo said:

Yeah I think baseball has morphed to being much more of a home town thing over the years. Majority of fans don't care too much about teams outside of their own market.

I’ll watch almost ANY MLB. it’s my favorite sport and, even tho some people bitch that it’s “boring” (which I never thought anyway), the new rules have improved what it was turning into. I will watch random hockey, too, because it is such a great, no bullshit sport. NBA, I will only watch my Jazz and maybe some playoffs (not a lot of overlap there).

I know the NFL is the grandaddy, but I’m kind of losing interest….I think soccer sucks but at least that “football” keeps moving and isn’t, what, like 4 minutes of actual action over three hours? endless commercials; endless reviews, etc.

  • Yes to random baseball and I play fantasy baseball so I have interest in most teams.
Hockey is the king of random viewing, though.  I'd watch hockey pretty much anytime.  As you say, it is go time and not much bs.

As for ratings. Kids don't watch baseball anymore. (They watch way less sports in general than previous generations). It's become a regional view like hockey has always been, folks (mainly old Wobbie like folks) just watch their home team. Long gone are the days of big national audiences when there was Monday Night Baseball and such. The "big" national weekly game, ESPN Sunday night draws like 1.5 million viewers on a good week.
So, ratings overall are in steady steep decline, and these 2 teams will do nothing to stem that tide.

It won't be that exciting when you find out Aaron Boone didn't create a vacancy with the Yankees. For me, there's a moratorium on non-playoff teams during the postseason.

openings and how they relate to donnie:

angels - perhaps….but I’m hearing Buck. then again, they previously entrusted all that talent to phil nevin.

    astros - no

guardians - not seeing it but maybe a slim chance.

    mets - looking like counsell

padres - I think they’re going to promote from within

and igot’s dream scenario doesn’t look to be open.
