The players play once the playoffs roll around.  Sure, managers can make bonehead decisions but most know what they are doing but it is rare you can pin a series W or L on a manager, I think.
I want to have a cocktail with Dusty and listen to stories.  Some old people are cool -- some should rush to the old dirtnap.  Dusty should live forever.
I was lucky enough to have a drink with him in Spring Training of 2020. We went to a local bar that was doing the Astroline broadcast and he was the guest. He was just hanging out at the bar and I went up to chat with him. Super nice guy and he even signed a baseball for me.

That is awesome, I would love that.
(And as much as I grew tired (SO TIRED) of Vin Scully, I loved that he always called him Johnnie B.)

Would love to have a drink with ANY old ball player.  Doesn't make them a good coach in the playoffs though...

That's your takeaway from that series? The Yanks went to Toronto and took 2 of 3 with both teams in a must win series

If we want to talk about daggers, I think Judge did most of the stabbing

Ya, those homers killed the Jays.
Jays need some help from the Rays now, but first things first, they have to take care of Baltimore, who are not just gonna role over for them

Yeah, they Yankees pretty much punched their ticket last night.  Disappointing.  Wanted to see the Jays in the playoffs.  Red Sox.... zzzzzz.  Hopefully the Mariners sneak in.

Anyone doing any of the Topps NFT thing?  Not sure its a good idea, seeing they are going to lose the license and all.  But if the thing endures, it would be nice to get in at ground-level

The Jays got one which was good.  The Yanks are going to get sacked by the Rays and the Jays will beat up on the Orioles.

Jays need to sweep and Yanks need to lose 2 of 3. Could happen for sure, but I feel decent. Not sure how saying winning 1 game in a series when you are two out of a playoff spot, playing the team leading the wild card is good.

The company that was doing the Topps NFT stocks plummeted after the news of fanatics getting the licenses.  Topps is also doing a basketball NFT w players in goofy Uni's.

The whole NFT thing is a beanie baby bust to me.  Get in, make money and get out.

If you aren't swept and the orioles are your next opponent then I would feel really good to be the Jays.

If I were the Yanks and the way their bats are lighting up as of late I would feel great too.

My Redbirds are surging! Reminds me of our championship 2011 run!
Mike Shannon was on a roll yesterday. I know that they wanted to let him ride into the sunset but somebody should’ve pulled the plug earlier. Sad, what a ducking voice. He was the soundtrack to my childhood car rides, even more so than Buck.

I'm hoping for the opposite!  But seems unlikely at this point.  Astros won the season series so they have the tiebreaker....Sox need to sweep and need Astros to get swept to get the homefield.

Dusty IS a very cool dude. Chatted with him as he sat in his Bob Marley inspired Indian motorcycle. My buddy got his hat and gave it to me when they did a ST game in vegas some years ago.

Thought LaRussa would do fine. The White Sox were already on their way to being a playoff team. Their rebuild was already done with for the most part
We all thought LaRussa was a dinosaur and probably shouldn't be coaching the new school kids.

You know the same reason that Buck Showalter isn't coaching and Dusty Baker shouldn't but he gets regular season results.
The White Sox aren't full analytics. So there's still old school managing. But he still has a good team. He just didn't need to mess up.

And that is precisely why losing 2 out of 3 was bad for Toronto. They sweep their series and likely won’t make it

Sucks for the Jays.   All the shit they've had to deal with over the last year and a half playing in 3 different cities, being away from home.  Would have been great to see them make it.   And basically you know, fuck the yankees and red sox :)

They have everyones kids on their teams, lol.  Biggio, Bichette and Guerrero.  The addition of Semien was a great pick up.  Hopefully Nate Pearson becomes an ace and they will have a great year.

the best team (SF) ought to be playing the worst record (ATL), not potentially the second best team.

and do we really want to see BOS/NY vs. tampa, right off the bat?

No one besides NY or Massholes want to see those 2 teams. One good reason to make them all play each other is so they all get eliminated sooner. Would have been great to see the Jays in there.
    It's a hopeless situation...
