Appetite for Destruction - Slash and Izzy's chemistry is beautiful, and nobody sings like Axl. Sweet Child IS the best guitar solo ever, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I prefer the solo to Paradise City. It rides the edge of overbearing shreddy cheese and facemelting genius.

Unbelievable album, but I must admit, I've been skipping over "Anything Goes" for about 15 years.

Beware, you may not "get it" on the first listen or two. I'd say definitely don't buy this if you like the more experimental Radiohead albums.

    Miles Davis- Kind of Blue

If you mention jazz to someone and ask what album should you get... they generally say Kind of Blue.

It is worth the hype as it is wonderful music.

Listening to this again now, excellent production on this album, everyone's part stands out and not really sure how to relate this but I guess it has a good bit of thump, there's a lot of albums, even newer ones, where some instruments/parts seem like way back in the mix. For a 14 or so year old album it really stands up well

very true. personally i prefer coltrane's 'a love supreme'. but, both are worthy of the hype, as is most of the music those two made in the 50's and 60's. 'bitches brew' wasn't too shabby either.

i'd say anything from dylan in the 60's, along with blood on the tracks and desire from the 70's are worthy of the praise.

    the beatles - revolver
pink floyd - dark side of the moon
    sonic youth - daydream nation
    my morning jacket - z
    arcade fire - funeral
broken social scene - you forgot it in people
the shins - chutes too narrow
    neko case's entire catelog
wilco's run from 'being there' to 'a ghost is born' is my favorite 4 album run by any artist in the history of music.
bright eyes - lifted, or the story is the soil keep your ear to the ground. (maybe this wasn't as hyped as the one that followed it, but it should've been)

...and riot act by pearl jam is worthy of the praise it receives by me personally. it's so unfortunate that many pj heads can't wrap their head around that masterpiece.

Scout Niblett - The Calcination of Scout Niblett

I'd say her 2 before that, This Fool Can Die Now and Kidnapped By Neptune, too

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada (I know it's only an ep but it's as almost as long as some strokes n weezer albums) really all of their stuff

    Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Spacegirl & Other Favorite (and Their Satanic Majesties Second Request)

The Black Keys - Rubber Factory

The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (and Let It Be and Rubber Soul)
