id rocks wrote:Last nights show was amazing. The guys really show no signs of slowing down. This was my 10th show and first time in Columbus. Was pleasantly surprised by the crowd. That place was very full and was totally rocking (except for those upper bowl folks sitting on their butts!). Highlights included Oceans - a totally unexpected opener in landlocked Ohio!, Grievance, Faithful, Marker in the Sand, Alone, Comeback, and Spin the Black Circle. Oh, and Mike's preset was pretty awesome. I don't know what to make of his song about his son - not the best lyrics, but very heartfelt and awesome.
The introduction of Pearl Jam religion was hilarious. Thou shalt not Twitter!
I was curious what Ed would do with Evolution when he got to "2010 watch it go to fire." He didn't change the lyric but made a little hilarious gesture where he sang the line, then feigned looking shocked, looked at his watch (as if to check the date), and then did this exaggerated shrug like "oh well". I love watching his subtle interactions with the crowd. One of the best parts of TenClub seats. Thanks 10C!
We were side stage and saw Ed's face just turn into this "WTF" did I just sing kinda face, priceless!!"I'll ride the wave,Where it takes me, I'll hold the pain, Release me"
"I'm not about to give thanks or appologize"
"Caught a bolt of lighting, cursed the day he let it go"0 -

10C# 189*** and we were in the first section lower bowl, about 10-15 rows up. 10C's really hooked me up with great seats the past few shows I've been too. I'd much rather be on the sides than too far back on the floor

This was somewhere around my 12th-15th PJ show. I've saw them at the Vic in Chicago, the Spectrum in October, and I gotta say the energy of the crowd and the band here in Columbus was almost equivalent to those. GO was badass, Alone was a treat, Crazy Mary was highlight as well.
Great show, great crowd, great seats. Thanks 10C.
So I guess since I was on the side section that everyone on the floor had a lower 1)C than me? Or do they start on the sides before they go all the way back to the floor?

I still can't get last night's show out of my mind!! Thank-you to the boys for putting on such a great show, it was the best birthday present i could ask for....this was my 1st time seeing PJ since '93 and with such a heavy dose of the early work throughout the show, i felt like i had stepped back in time (the new stuff off of Backspacer sounded great as well)....coming to C-bus from Canada with my sister, we found each other just looking at each other in disbelief as the awesome set-list rolled along....the first encore may be one of the best i have ever seen/heard. And thanks to Ten Club personnel and members alike for helping create a truly incredible and unforgettable evening, the crowd was amazing, and it feels good to be back home!'93 Toronto

Alright, so before ANYTHING, I have to say thanks to Oatsdad, who responded to my call for help a couple of months ago for someone who would commit a ticket to me with the possibility that I'd pull out because my wife is due to have our third child 5/14. I didn't want to buy a 10C tick that I couldn't use. Well, she allowed me to drive up from Cinci, and sent me reassuring texts 2-3 times during the show to let me know that there was no labor happening and that our other 2 were tucked safely in bed.
Well, Oatsdad, your loyalty to the band (TC 78xxx) served us well (better than mine woulda been -134xxx) and we sat in the 4th row in front of Mike. (I liked it when someone close to us said "Last time we got Stoned, tonight we get Miked"). Didn't get a pic from Mike but he tossed dozens in our area.
So, in my 10 or so shows, this has to rank pretty high. The energy was amazing, Ed in particular was just on fire: jumping, spitting, lots of hand gestures, microphone hanging as much as ever, and chatty. I'm proud of the crowd b/c clearly they stepped it up. Mike was Mike, bouncy, making eye contact, giving pics, and generally melting faces all over the place. His jam with Boom during CMary was really nice. But the driving tone of the set list was really right up Stone's and Matt's alley. I love it when he gets that little goose neck move going. Jeff? Well, I can't speak for the whole crowd but where we stood the bass (and bass drum) was pretty heavy. The girl behind me said her hair was vibrating! He was fairly active. BTW, overall the sound was pretty good, I felt like Ed was a little drowned out during the first set but it improved after that.
Ed's voice was.................in very, very good shape. I'd give it an 8/10. I'd started a thread on that topic a few days before the show but I'd have to say there were very few spots that I heard him pull off or change a note. He hit the extra long "all I'll ever beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!" during Black, nailed "Gems and rhinestones!" and was pretty good on GTF. I still wonder how he'll sound by tour's end....
Alone was a really nice treat, but they left us hangin on the end of it a bit. Come Back was so emotional and heartfelt. Overall, the setlist was a bit hit heavy for my tastes (even with BM, Daughter and Jeremy ommitted) but they played my favs from the new album. And again, the performance was just sooooo on.
Finally, I want to give a shout out to Sean and his family who sat next to us. He's raising his 2 teen dtrs RIGHT. They flew in from Seattle and they are headed up east after the Indy show, THEN, Europe this summer for 3 weeks and all the festivals that PJ are playing! Sean felt bad I didn't get a pick and offered to send me one. He just might get and email soon....Nice Folks.
So all in all a great time. Now I'll enjoy my weekend while I wait for my wife to go into labor.0 -
127xxx tenclub #, was row R (18 rows back?) on the floor, just to the right. Great fans around us, and an awesome show.
8th live show since 1998, first time with Ten Club tickets. My friends and I have always gotten lawn or GA in blocks of four seats or more, so this was a first for me being on the floor.
Highlights for me; Oceans, Faithful, Alone, Marker In The Sand and Unthought Known back to back was real nice, first time hearing these. The entire Encore 2 of Once, Hail Hail, Crazy Mary, Alive, and YL was amazing. They nailed Once, and Hail Hail is always one of my favorites. I think Cameron is right on top of this song now, not changing it too much but making it his own in some ways. Hope it stays a staple. Crazy Mary with the extended jam and Boom going nuts is always fun, and I will continue to look forward to more free form instrumentals from PJ. I would love 4 or 5 songs turned into 10 minute jams, as opposed to a couple per live show. Thoughts?
Seems like they're playing their more up-tempo songs at the proper pace, as opposed to the speedy versions of Even Flow and the like from around 10 years ago or so.
Would've liked another Backspacer song (Gonna See My Friend or Speed of Sound), in place of say, STBC, or SoLAT, but I am not complaining, and understand it's been quite some time, seven years?, since PJ have played Columbus. I used to love Grievance, but I think it needs to be done. And Amongst the Waves fell really flat live, IMO. It's a good album song in the flow of things, but never builds up and does much.
Great seats, great set, awesome energy. Wish I had more room between the seats to move around and dance, it wasn't until halfway through the main set I felt comfortable in my 'space'.
Awesome as this show was, it would be interesting to see a live show that showcased Backspacer, with their back catalog sprinkled in for pacing.

I can't believe I missed Dead Flowers.....I fucking kid you not...that exact song was the song I was listening to when I parked my car. I thought it was some kind of joke when I heard it. I'm so fucking pissed. I was hoping they did a cover of it during the night. It was on in my car when I started to go home and I didn't know about this until I read it when I got home. Damn them for only doing presets every once in awhile, and damn that Irish restraunt for having such a long wait, alright.
Now if they did Sway, I wouldn't be here now because I would have found a bridge to jump off.0 -

This was the 17th show I've been at and 3rd in Columbus. It was great to hear the stuff from Yield (the first tour I saw them on) and the highlight was Oceans. Probably the one opener I've wanted to hear that I haven't until now. I though the crowd was very pedestrian and where I was sitting might as well have been at an opera. Eddie was very into this show though as evidenced by his enthusiasm and chatting. I am still amazed every time I see Black at how long he holds the note on "all I'll ever be". A great set list and looking forward to Cleveland.0

I was on the floor and it was ROCKIN'!! Everyone was going nuts the entire show. AWESOME! A little bummed they covered 'Baba O'Reilly' at the two shows that sandwiched this one, but 'Come Back' definitely made up for it. That was amazing - gave me the chills.0

Dude, I'm Greg, the guy that sat next to you at the pub before the show I bet. Glad to see my buddy was right before the show when he told you where he thought your seats were. I was 30 rows back on the floor, but I saw everything just fine. My voice is gone, nothing left. Amazing, amazing show. So fortunate to see a special setlist like it was.
Hey Greg this is Gregg you met at the pub - First of all I think Holly was either to the left or right of me but I could not agree more with her on the BIG THANK YOU to PJ & 10C with the outstanding center 2nd row seats and the stellar PJ setlist/performance. Greg you should have come down as I did not feel right about the people wanting the ticket so had that extra seat and thought about you on Crazy Mary and Alive. Great meeting you and Holly if you were the one with pictures to the left of me then I hope to get that e-mail. If not then I am sure we were close and you are still smiling like me.0 -
