    I don't think so. And I'm glad they didn't.

But what if they did? Would you stop listening to Pearl Jam? God forbid they or anybody else might have differing musical tastes than you. There are a good amount of people on this board that have very little musical tolerance, and it's rather sickening. So often, on this forum, I see people throwing out negative comments in regards to acts that aren't Pearl Jam or Pearl Jam related. This is why I never bring up what other bands I like around here because I know I'll get flamed to hell. All the music snobbery around here needs to stop.

Here here!!! And quite the same, I LOVE DMB as well, and Maroon Five in the same token. I listen to everything, from Punk Rock to classical and EVERYTHING in between, even Opera.. All music should inspire you in one shape form or another..So here's the solution, when ya run into music snobs that only listen to ONE band ever.. make sure you note to yourself that it's that person's loss. Yessssss by far PJ is the BEST out of my musical foray, but they are by FAR, not the only ones on the list; they're just at the TOP of the list. Here's to the peeps IRL being nicer than they are on this BBS sometimes, when I meet them today:-)

yet their concerts continuously sell-out for the most part year after year. just because you don't like them, doesn't mean they suck.

    sad thing is
this will turn into a DMB sucks thread and the question will be forgotten.

I am by no means a big DMB fan, probably more of a casual listener than anything else. But, his band(sans the music) seems to be the exact type of band that PJ fans clamor over. A good live band, tours a ton, and always changing up setlists.

I've spent some time lurking on their message boards, and DMB fans, much like PJ fans, are fanatical. Also, I would love for this board (or some fans) to do a rarity index/tour central type of thing they do for shows. It's pretty cool.

Plus, they bitch a lot about fanclub seats. So, we have that in common too :D

Yeah I agree. It’s quite narrow minded to admit that the ONLY band that’s number one is pj. I’d be embarrassed to say that. To seem I only like one band and everything else is shit, that would be embarrassing to admit.

I would think (don't know for sure) that the guys in PJ would at least respect some of the other musicians who get killed in here.

    exactlly.

but the question is Do you think Pearl Jam respects Nickleback?
and it doesn't really matter. you can slam them all you want. these bands that are dissed on here are laughing all the way to the bank.

  • Pearl Jam/Eddie have/has never covered a DMB or Dave solo song. They have shared a stage together and even sung together, though I don't know the context. I think it might've been a birthday party. I doubt strongly that Eddie likes Dave's music. I would imagine that Dave is probably a fan of Pearl Jam. I DO know that most DMB fans have at least a relative interest/respect for Pearl Jam while most (hardcore) Pearl Jam fans thinks that DMB sucks. I used to be a HUGE Dave Matthews Band fan, but right after Before These Crowded Streets, I really think they let me down. I like exactly 4 songs from Busted Stuff (I honestly think Grey Street and Bartender might be their 2 best songs) and I find that Everyday, the rest of Busted Stuff and Stand Up are almost completely unlistenable. Big Whiskey is a relatively good record compared to their last three, but I'll probably never see him perform live again.

They played together at the end of the Vote For Change tour when everyone was on stage at the last concert...i think they played "people have the power"...and i don't recall the entire show, but there's a chance they may have been on stage together at the same show for a different tune...

i like dmb, but why the fuck would PJ ever cover them? Now, I wouldn't be surprised if DMB covered PJ....

I am a big fan of both bands (with PJ getting the nod), and I don't really see Pearl Jam covering DMB or vice verse. Their styles are much too different.
  • God I hope not. Call me an asshole and a music snob if you want to, but I have a right to my opinion. DMB is just too much of a jam band for me, and I'm not crazy about the whole hippy mentality, etc. either. I think at the core of it to I feel like they're a band that people try and ascribe TOO MUCH meaning to. Like saying the movie Gladiator is your favorite movie because it's so inspiring to you!
