Seems as is my desired price range falls within a bit of a middle-ground.....either a loaded "practical" car, or a lower end luxury or sports car. A Prius would make sense, but I don't really dig the shape.

I bought a 2010 Mazda 3 last spring. It was loaded, and right in that price range.

I lost it in the breakup earlier this year though :?

anyhoo, it was a kick ass, fun, nice,........ It rocked. I loved that fucking car.

    check them out.

The Ford Fusion wasn't MotorTrend Car of the Year for nothing. The SYNC package is worth the price alone.

    heh - I said package.

Just traded off a Volvo S40. Tire eating sum bitch. Nice car, but too small for my 6' 1" build.

Would like to check out a Mazda 3-Speed. Well, me and my son would.

whatever you model you decide, i am always a believer in buying a car between 6 and 24 months old with very low miles. Let the original buyer take the brunt of the depreciation and you can buy far far more car for your money and it is going to be virtually new (new to you anyway) and still under warranty or certified.

you can get into a sweet BMW 335 coupe 2008 or 2009 certified warranty to 100,000 miles for the price range you are talking. If you want to spend a bit less drop down to the 328i for a smaller engine and you are easy in your range.

I owned a ford and a few pontiac cars then was looking at the new Bonnevilles several years ago and decided to drive a used BMW 328i. Ended up buying it on the spot and for the last 10 years i have never owned anything but BMW. I got the 2 year old 328 for less than the new Bonneville i was looking at and now i just keep trading and buying "like new BMW's". Never pay for an oil change, never pay for any service whatsoever, they wash your car for free. Once you drive one you will love it.

Except for the Vette and Camaro, none of the American cars seem very sporty/slick. A loaded Mazda 3 may be a good option right now.

My last 2 cars have been Volvos, so I want a change.

Even though I am trying to not let the deal drive my purchase, a 33% discount of the Saab sticker price is attractive...just gotta make sure they will still exist in the future. I think there is a Federal law that requires automakers to keep producing replacement parts even if the car is discontinued.

the 2010 ford pinto rocks major ass.
the 2010 chevrolet chevette kicks a lot of ass.
and finally, the 2010 amc pacer is one hell of a cruiser.

Don't let people fool you. The new Camero, while it's a beast on the road...the car is really cheaply built. I've driven a standard and SS, and while the SS feels like you are driving a rocket with wheels...it's still a cheap and poorly built Chevy.
    The interior is horrible.

  • I guess I'll throw in my 2 cents as well.

VW GTI - Fun car in your price range http://www.vw.com/gti/en/us/

Dodge Challenger - Since everyone is suggesting an American beast, I prefer this one, they're meaner looking.
    http://www.dodge.com/en/2010/challenger/

Or like an earlier poster said, buy a slightly used more luxurious ride like the Audi A4/A6 Quattro sedan. They're super fun to drive and my preferred vehicle of choice.

    That Challenger is beastly looking.

i go back on forth on this one. i checked one out up close at the dealer and thought it was way to bulky. then i compared the stats to a camaro, and they are basically the same size (length and width)
