I hope you're right. I can't wait! Listening to 2008 right now.

Imagine if we get a 3 hour show? My summer would start and end that Saturday. Just pay the fee for going over curfew.

I pitty the fouls who thought the Hartford '08 show was gonna suck. Threads after threads, topics after topics, of hate & passion that that show would suck & many people took Hartford of their Pearl Jam map. I never been to Hartford before & friends told me not to go. The past year's sucked. Yada yada yada! I feel so sad but soo good that I was there in attendance. They totally suck for not going. Missing out on one of the greatest Wishlist Foundation PreParties & an amazing show in many, many year's.
I've found the shows that usually get the most hype are generally a let down. While the conditions are right for a perfect storm i wouldn't get too ahead of yourself.
Let's also not forget that up until the last time PJ were in Hartford the shows were mediocre at best (including riots, rain, short sets, angry ed, sh*tty police, etc).
Also, i think the reason it was the best show last tour was because everyone was slagging it before hand. I recall a long thread devoted entirley to people thinking Hartford was going to be horrible.
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
Hartford 08 did rock, it was a great show. I don't know how I feel about this one though. As much as I usually prefer to see them indoors compared to out, I do not like the XL center one bit.

Hartford 1996 mediocre???? You are crazy. 98 yes but we did get Tremor Christ.

the people of hatford have redeemed themselves of 96 and 98
listen to 06 and 08. We showed love and they gave/will give back

The only reason 98 wasn't good was because Eddie let everyone dance in the aisles. They had to end that show.
Picking out what will be the best show of a tour is a silly enterprise. You just can't know or even predict beforehand. The only reasonably safe bet would be...oh...Madison Square Garden to close out the leg of the tour (it's a Friday night, just as amenable to a good crowd night).
That, and who says Hartford 08 was the best of that tour? Unless that's coming from someone who was at every single date of that tour, I don't think you can be an authority on that. I was at both MSG shows that year, and despite the poor quality of the bootlegs, the shows themselves were phenomenal. Hartford being a decent show might have been the surprise of that year, but beyond that, I am not sure who's to judge the best show from a particular tour.

It's gonna be another rocking night in Hartford.
they had to play an amazing show with a sick setlist that night to make it up to the many 10c members that didnt get in until the 9th song because of the bottleneck at the 10c ticket windows.
Saturday don't mean shit to the band....only to us 9 to 5 assholes....and they have a night off before and after Boston also...and we all know the Boston crowd kicks the fuck out of the Hartford crowd...but whatever...i'll be at both shows.

They dont have a night off after Boston now.
yeah the newark show. Someone I know compared that show to Danny devitos character in the movie twins (ie. The leftover shit). :-). j/k
Hartford 2008 was my first ever show and I don't know how they'll be able to top that. That show was magical and I was listening to great shows before going to that Hartford show (Seattle II, both MSG of 2003, Mansfield III 2003, Atlanta 1994) and I believe Hartford 2008 stands with those shows. Listening to 2008 now.

as great as this show is going to be, i think 08 has built this one up to be something similar...too much for a let down
having said that i think newark will be this tour's jewel
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

very true
but its a new building for PJ and the crowd will be loud and juiced up on a Sat night
but I agree that Newark has potential to steal the spotlight from MSG

fair enough but I am going to be there this year
and hopefully both MSG shows if I can get a single to MSG 2

Always the first show has a special place in you're heart, so will shows that you had to jump through hoops to get to...being there live versus listening to the boot just isnt the best way to compare. Truly the opinion of a few peeps who went to the whole tour would be the best way to prove which was the best show in 08, or any year for that matter....however, i do believe this whole thread was meant to suggest that due to the days off and such, the hartford show will be the best night.
I cant predict how the band shall play but I can tell you we wont be walking out of the XL Center disappointed. And if we are, well after-party at the Plaza with the 10c is in order.....

I agree, I had an AMAZING time at Hartford, but I think it really only (might) win most unique setlist of the tour. I actually thought both MSGs and Mansfields were better shows.
I kinda think Boston is poised for the best show though. Every single tour Boston gets something really special- experiment of 03, only non-VFC shows of 04 w/ I've got a Feeling and Alone returning, Leash in 06, the riot that was Betterman in Mansfield 08...and all those tours had multiple Boston shows. If PJ gives Boston these incredible moments across multiple dates, imagine what they're going to do with just one night.

It was mediocre as in "on par for the '96 tour", which was incredible as a whole. The Hartford show was good but was no Randalls Island or even Maine from that tour. It gets lots of praise mainly because it is one of the best circulating soundboard recordings from the tour.
I flew in from California for the 06 show. Of the two shows i got to see on the east coast Albany blew it out of the water.
I worked at the venue for a bunch of years and grew up in the area so i wish i could say the shows were all amazing.....but they really weren't
'08 is the only one i didn't attend and it appears to be the best so far
I really hope they come out to Brass bonanza. Also, hope they have the whalers/PJ shirts. that would be amazing!
