anyone digging her newest album, Terra Incognita? I love it, and just found out she's coming back to Winnipeg August 1st (the sunday of our civic long weekend!). Anyone else going to see her on this tour?

and she's not your typical "movie star that wants to be a musician". She's the real deal. Seeing her live will turn you into an instant fan.

Man, I knew she could sing after Natural Born Killers. She's got some pipes!
I missed the chance to see her on tour, but I have heard from several frinds who have seen her that the band is good and she is a great performer/frontwoman.

I think I heard one or two songs from her band a few years ago.

She sang in a few Prodigy songs off "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned"

Spitfire and Hotride (she sang back up)

Saw Juliette Lewis and The Licks at Bonnaroo. Excellent performance . She can definitely sing . As for her religious beliefs, last I checked the first amendment was (barely) still alive so she's free to believe as she will.

So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
  • She has a new 5 song EP she just finished, produced and co written with brad Schultz of cage the elephant. No word yet on release date, but she's opening some gigs for CTE. Man, that would be a killer show.

why should it make a difference? sure, Scientologists seem a bit whacky, but aren't all religious people? why one moreso than another?

Yeah, me too. I didn't know this, and my opinion of her was just lowered by a fair bit. What an idiot.
Still, great actor. No one can say that Scientologists can't act, hahaha. Never listened to her music really, except for a few demos she did as a back up singer with Joseph Arthur at some point (who she had an LTR with some time ago, and they're still friends).

Yes all people. Never said anything about "moreso". But there are obviously degrees of lunacy.

What? Of course some religions are way more wacko than others. Many, many things make this so.

It shouldn't make any difference what her religious beliefs are, her songs aren't religious and neither are her shows. If she was preaching between songs all the time then it may be different. Personally I think Juliette is pretty cool, and her live shows definitely kick ass!

Side note - she stood on my shoulders at Lollapalooza in 07 when she crowd surfed mid-song :)

Yeah, when only listening (or watching) I agree. I still love Tom Cruise movies too, and Men in Black is a good movie trilogy. Scie tologists are still wacko jobs though. It's not even a real religion. It is this weird, twisted money-making scam that has its toes dipped in cultism. As someone very interested in the affects if religion (and things pretending to be), I feel like finding out that a well-known actress who I like is a Scientologist is noteworthy, and yes, as being a Scientologist is necessarily a huge part of who someone is, it is relevant that an artist is one IMO. Beliefs and world views dictate art.

not necessarily. that depends on the person entirely. I can name one song that is remotely religous by JL, "all is for god" on Terra Incognita. I don't like it, as the entire song is pretty much that line on repeat. But the rest, out of all 4 albums, nothing.

I find it harder to like an artist when I know they are a dick in real life, like Billy Corgan. it pains me to buy his shit knowing I'm giving my money to an asshole.
