Snagged Wilco: Kicking Television Vinyl Set, Them Crooked Vultures, Black Keys, and Bruce Springsteen.

Not a lot of records distributed to my record store in Maine, but I was happy to get a hold of these. Had the Queens of the Stoneage in my hand, but it was the only one and someone else really wanted it so I gave it up. Share the love on Record Store Day!

I didn't know this until today, but Record Store Day is the brainchild of Chris Brown of Bull Moose Records right here in Maine- maybe that'd be sufficient leverage to get PJ to do a little "Live at Easy Street" east coast style... Tell me "PJ Live at Bull Moose Records" wouldn't be HUGE!

Enjoy Bodston 5?17, and here's hoping for an announcement soon regarding TBD 5/18 (please please please TD Garden #2)

Got Wilco- Kicking Television. My local place also had a used copy of Alice in Chains- Jar of flies/sap combo for $8. Pretty stoked about that because I was about to pay $50 for the re issue online!!!!!!!!

Picked up a few things, but missed the REM and the Soundgarden records.. :(

Scored a Springsteen, Lennon, Flaming Lips, Hendrix, Rolling Stones, and Neil Young. Also picked up the Muse album for a board member. Wanted the Wilco, but I already spent enough and $70 was a bit more than I wanted to spend.

How much was the Lennon bag going for? I wish we had that over here.

$20. It has 3 singles and some postcards. I haven't opened it yet, but I'll get there sometime today.

I got Springsteen, Hendrix, and Lennon. Plus the freebes and goodies that came in the bag. I looked for the Soundgarden single but the stores I went to didn't have it.

Yeah, Bull Moose in Bangor is where I went this morning. They had most of the vinyl from the list, but in extremelly limited quantities. Also had in in a small area of the store, so it was difficult to look through what they had available because a bunch of people were all trying to get to it at the same time.

Bull Moose is a great store though. I would love to see PJam play there, but very unlikely :-). Either way its nice to see an independent record store competing with Best Buy, etc.

One month from today is the Boston show and I can't wait!

The first store I tried had closed down :? (in Salisbury) despite being on the recordstore day website and still having their own website up. So I missed out on some of the super popular stuff (really wanted The Flaming Lips LP and Soundgarden single would have liked The Stones single too).

But went to another store this afternoon - that I didn't even know existed before some internet research (I guess that's one of the points of Record Day!!) - and picked up QOTSA and MGMT 12 inches plus an Ash/Mogwai 7 inch Chemical Brothers 12 inch (not sure of these 2 are Record Day releases). I have also got Springsteen and TCV records on order - the store are apparently getting a few additional copies from Sony next week (fingers crossed!)

All in all a great day despite some early disappointment.

Got the Gogol Bordello, Flaming Lips, Soundgarden, REM, Black Keys, MGMT, Monsters of Folk, LCD Soundsystem and a week of eating top ramen ahead of me....
  • I am so pissed at myself for forgetting about Queens of the Stone Age. :x Oh well, I guess I'll get over it.

I picked up the Chemical Brothers which I was informed WAS a Record Store Day release but it was a last minute addition to the list. Beautiful artwork on that!
I really wanted theSoundgarden, Flaming Lips and Crooked Vultures releases but I got to the shop too late.
Gonna have to get on eBay for the Flaming Lips I think.

Soundgarden I'm not too disappointed about because I have the original release so probably best for another fan to get hold of the reissue really.

Apparently a scuffle broke out over the TWO copies of Blur at 9AM!!! Madness!!

Store didn't have much. Got the Hendrix and deluxe Mastodon-Blood Mountain, after the guy at the store met me halfway pricewise between that and the regular. How fitting on a day that celebrates the indie stores.

Hey ruxpin, the Lips DSOTM is gettin a standard issue pretty soon according to the store I was at.

I am interested in the TCV if anybody got an extra... :(

Prolly would opted for Kicking Television over Blood Mtn if they had it and the price was a little better than I've seen online.

I really lucked out with this and not just because Sister Ray Records had 40(!) copies of the Blur single, but also because they had it down to a science. They gave out vouchers numbered and let the first 20 in. We queued before the counter and 4 people at a time went up and basically placed their order, one copy of as many titles as we'd like. Staff picked the items and rung us up. It was a thing of beauty.

    I didn't find shit!

    Busy day at Easy Street!

I bought a bunch of albums but all the exclusive record store releases that I wanted (Flaming Lips, Hold Steady, Wilco) were sold out only 1 hour after the store opened.

It was cool to see a record store being so busy though; reminded me of huge album release days from the 90's

I've never seen so many music geeks/hipsters up before 10AM.

Had a great day again! Lucky to be in New York City!

Got Hendrix "Live at Clark University" and the "Valleys of Neptune" 7", The Doors, Soundgarden, Neil Young, Black Keys, Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., and Rolling Stones releases. Stupidly skipped on the Lennon singles, and kept thinking about Them Crooked Vultures, but $15 for 2 songs I have and 1 don't and 1 interview was just not smart money.

J&R at 9 am is the place to be on Record Store Day. Had something like 60 copies of everything, and handed out tickets so the limited stuff could be bought without a riot. Very well run, and free vinyl sized canvass bag. The other 6 or so stores I went to didn't have anything to make me pull the trigger.

Decided to go back on my lunch break to see if any records slipped through the cracks. Walked out with Monsters of Folk, Flaming Lips, and Muse.

If anyone is hitting up any record stores later today, I would LOVE a copy of either The Flaming Lips (Dark Side..) or the Monsters of Folk (2 LP-clear blue)! I can paypal the $ to you today, but I can only afford one of these. If I had to pick, I'd ask for MOF. Thanks!

Went to three different Newbury Comics, I got so much shit. They were running a 40% off all used cds sale today as well. As far as exclusives, I was able to net the Flaming Lips and Monsters of Folk vinyl, as well as the Yeah Yeah Yeah's new 7inch and two posters! A George Harrison print and a Flaming Lips-Embryonic print! I am happy today!

a board member helped me out too and scored the Bruce Springsteen record for me!

I'm so jealous of you all that got to actually go to a record store today...the last record store near me, which was still an hour away, closed up this past winter :( ...I'm certainly happy because the Springsteen record was the only one that I REALLY wanted but I still would have LOVED to browse everything else in a record store...although then I would have ended up spending too much money!
