  • Easily the best Canadian band right now is Wintersleep. If you haven't heard them, you should definitely check them out, they're an amazing band and there incredible live. They also opened for PJ in 2005 in Saint Johns.

I'm gonna say Tragically hip. Now these guys may not get much radio play in the states (if any), But I am so glad that someone sent me an album and told me to give them a listen. The starter album was yer favorites- But an AMAZING introduction. I've gotten a few more albums since then, and saw them on this last tour.

Hope to see them again very soon.

Our Lady Peace is up there too for me.

  • Shit, I was gonna volunteer Sam Roberts. That first post was on the ball there. :) I don't know if I'd call them the BEST...but they're a favourite lately. Didn't really "discover" them until last summer but they sure impressed me live. They've got some beautiful songs.

The Hip is fantastic...although I've been warned consistently against seeing a live show. Apparently Gord makes a fool out of himself to the point of no redemption?

Although Our Lady Peace has been a consistent favourite from way back, but I'm sort of ambivalent about their new sound...if by new, we're talking this past decade. Their first four albums still resonate powerfully with me and they still bring 110% live, even on the new material. I miss Raine's falsetto; there are very few voices out there that could just knock me off my feet like that. Looking forward to his next solo record though, quite a different sound.

So in conclusion, I'm indecisive! :D

See the hip live. I saw them at Bluesfest for the first time 2 years ago, and yes, Gord is crazy, but in a good way.

yeah Gord does dance around like a fool and do some off the wall kind of stuff (covering his face with a towel and laying / sitting in different positions during a song solo/ jam but the show was awesome. They are just one of those bands to see even though the lead singer is a bit strange, but as noted above in a good way, all in good fun.

I really enjoyed the little acoustic bit they did live and they played for like 2 hours and 45 minutes. Took a 15 minute intermission between sets.

Great show though. I just wish I had discovered them earlier, and had some more exstensive insight to share on their shows. I look forward to seeing them again.
