And the winner of the Conan O'Brien sweepstakes is ... TBS.
According to a press release sent out by the cable network (which, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner), the comedian is joining TBS to host a late-night show that is expected to debut in November. O'Brien's show will be followed on TBS' schedule by George Lopez's "Lopez Tonight," which will move to midnight.
"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I'm headed to basic cable," O'Brien said in the statement. "My plan is working perfectly."
He also Tweeted Monday: "The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I'll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show."
O'Brien is currently embarking on a nationwide comedy tour, but he made bigger headlines earlier this year when NBC decided to move Jay Leno back to "The Tonight Show's" late-night slot. O'Brien, who had been hosting "Tonight," left the network.
Since his departure at the end of February, O'Brien has joined Twitter and decided to follow someone at random; launched a 32-city comedy tour (which will include much of his "Tonight Show" crew); and been the subject of countless rumors as to where he will land when a non-compete clause with NBC is over.

I was hoping he'd get a gig on Fox. Oh well.
at least he'll own the new show.

I still think Conan sucks.
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
Actually, I think it's closer to what Conan said he didn't want to have happen to Jimmy Fallon.
He didn't want to have Fallon pushed back by taking the spot after Leno.
I guess George Lopez doesn't count!
Oh well, I'll be glad to see Conan back. I too hope he goes back to more of a Late Night style. He lost a lot of edge when he went to The Tonight Show.
conan isn't being a bitch bout all this.
lopez sucks anyways. i'd rather watch carson daily then lopez and daily is painful to watch.
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
Really?
I didn't hear that!
That's good to hear!
I figured Conan had to be above that kind of move.
And you just admitted to knowing that?
i watch carson sometimes when i come home drunk from strip clubs
kidding
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
:P
lol
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
but i hope andy sits this one out.
yeah...i really missed andy when he left the late night show.
but it was pretty awkward with him as the announcer on the tonight show.
happy for conan. i was hoping for fox or something. tbs just seems like a step backwards. then again--i guess anything not the tonight show is backwards. hopefully he'll be more like he was on late night like other people mentioned.
at least i still get my seinfeld reruns on fox too
which is why conan chose tbs...fox couldn't get enough affiliates to carry the show...he'll probably get the same ratings on tbs that he could have got on fox...and if he were to go on fox, he'd have to kiss those affiliates asses and do a safer show even it is fox...with tbs, he's gonna have a lot of freedom
or conan really wants to call braves games

Can't wait!
Film site Movieline alleges that Weinberg is eyeing the gig as Leno's new emcee, after Kevin Eubanks announced he'll soon be leaving Leno's side.
Weinberg was jazzed last year to assume the position when Conan took over the "Tonight Show" reins, but in light of the Team Coco flush, he's made "overtures" to return solo.
"I used to think when I was a kid what a great job that must be -- you know, same place, every time, everyday. Lo and behold, here I am 40 years later, doing it," Weinberg gushed about the gig to Inside Jersey magazine in August.
As if buzz about a switch to Leno's show isn't controversial enough, the Movieline report goes on to say ...
... that Weinberg wasn't necessarily a beloved member of Big Red's team:
Weinberg would send interns to do gardening work at his house on the New Jersey shore, and would involve staffers in his pay disputes with the network -- at one point, even enlisting an intern to tabulate every minute of screen time Weinberg had racked up over two years in an argument for a salary raise.
An NBC spokesperson had no comment regarding the report.
Do you think Weinberg would make a good addition to the "Tonight Show" team? Does this make Leno look even worse?
