I went to the show on Thursday. Let's just say it was mind-blowing! I'm going again tonight - can't freakin wait.

I hope David is there. I doubt it but any hint at a rumour I'll take.

Oh and bring drugs...nothing like seeing the wall high ; )

I can definitly say, holy fuck, that was so worth it. There were many moments where I was blown away, and sometimes it was the music and sometimes the theatrics. I had goosebumps as well a couple of time, especially for the first minute when In The Flesh started and when ABITW when the kids started singning, as well as Vera for the image that was put on the Wall. Of course, Comfortably Numb was probably the best song of the show, with that solo, man what a feeling to play that solo 40 feet in the air at the top of the Wall, the guy who played the solo was awesome. There was even some amazing fireworks especially at the end of In The Flesh. Make sure your watching the right side of the Wall at the end of this song. The 40 foot teacher was really fucking cool, especially its flexibility to move around, very realistic. Mother was awesome as well, and the building of the wall as the first set was going on. Loved Hey You to start the 2nd set with the Wall complete, I wonder if the sound would suffer because of that, but it didn't that I could tell. Speaking of that, there were a couple of moments when the sound didn't sound as smooth, such as Run Like Hell, but it didn't take away. Oh and there were sounds throughout the speakers in the audience, just like on the album, I could hear different speakers put out different kids screaming and such, that was cool. And the visuals on the Wall were awesome, sometimes with old Wall footage too. Was hoping the Trial had more than what was displayed, just Roger signing (maybe) while the Wall footage to the whole song was played on the Wall. But the toppling of the Wall was well worth it.

The crowd around me was kind of lame, and kind of old. I did sit till Comfortably Numb during the second set but stood for the remainder of the show, while most of the people in the section didn't. Getting in to the ACC was the worst I have ever experienced, and I couldn't get out for a smoke break during Intermission so wandered in the "exclusive" area of the ACC where the corporate offices are and found an obscure small bathroom and went into the toilet shut the door and smoked a bowl LOL, then got paranoid when 2 people came in. Took an hour to get into Toronto and an hour out.

Overall, it was definitly one of the best shows I have ever seen and am so satisfied I got to experience one of my favourite albums that was the soundtrack of my life when I was 16

I've got tix for the 4th UC show in Chicago - maybe that's where David will show up???!

All these little David/Roger collaborations lately are really getting my hopes up for a real Floyd tour, maybe next year? Even though Rick's gone now they can still do it. I mean if the Who can Floyd can!!

Have you heard of any Floyd get togethers? I'm coming in from Detroit for the Friday show and haven't heard a thing thru Pink Floyd community.

so here is my 2cents on my little excursion last night

i felt like i had seen this show before having watched the movie on a number of occassions. it felt a little canned. anybody that has listed to the album or watched the movie much knew what was going to come next. i can't believe they didn't have any ships on the horizon during comfortably numb.

when they jammed out it was pretty rockin. the wall as a screen was pretty cool. i was suprised at how well it displayed everything. the marching hammers were cool. my highlights were numb as well as pink and the surrogate band. get em up agaist the wall. i'm sure the guy that was gay will have his friends busting his balls for sometime. i couldn't tell if they joint person had a joint or not

there were tons of empty seats but they are playing 4 shows here and this was the tuesday night show, friday should be more happening.

the crowd was pretty weak. during one of the longer less rocking non singing portions, there was a ton of talking thru out the crowd. there wasn't a lot of singing a long which sort of suprised me. there is no comparison to a PJ crowd. obviously, the crowd was a bit older so maybe that played a part. not a lot of 20 somethings in it.

i'm glad i scored my ticket cheap. they were over priced to begin with. i'm glad i went. unlike PJ, one show was plenty.

as for merchandise, posters were pretty cheap. $10 & $15. Tshirts were a bit steep at $40. i didn't like any of them enough to buy one. a black one with the hammers on the back would have been cool. what can you do.

they must have a pretty big crew. there were like 6-8 tour buses and 8-10 semi's out in the parking lot.

so there you have it. good time, not great time. enjoy it

  • Nice review 81/Newman. I'm passing on this thing. He's doing 3 shows at the Garden next week. I saw Dark Side a few years ago and while it was good, it left me wanting Gilmour. Waters is okay, but Gilmour was always the talent. The ticket prices are insane and you're right, the whole thing seems a little canned to me.

I'm going to next Fridays show at the Garden. It's costing me about $100 but I am second row balcony at center ice so the view should be fine. I grew up listening to the Wall so for me I think it's a once in a lifetime thing for me. I doubt Waters will be doing this again seeing that he's touring for almost a year. Looking forward to it.

it finally hit me last night what was really wrong with the show.

they pumped in noise when the crowd was there to provide it. they didn't use us as much as they could have/should have. two biggest examples of this were during the "we don't need no education, we don't need no thought control" verse. and the "tear down the wall" chant near the end. instead of letting the crowd handle these lines, they had it blaring thru the speakers. i was doing hte tear down the wall chant, but couldn't hear a single other person in my section doing anything. we know the songs, we know the movie, we know the story. let us be part of the show.

go to a pj concert, and ed invites us to play along. fix that and it would be a better expierience.

81 - I understand your thoughts, but this is not your typical rock concert. As Roger says it's rock theatre at its best.

I think the problem is with your seats. I went to the show twice. Once with great seats and the other much farther back. I was blown away being on the floor - the crowd rocked and I was in heaven. Father back the crown sucked big time. That had a lot do do with how I felt about that show.

If Roger decided to play a different setlist every night he couldn't make it nearly as awesome as it was.

My suggestion - if you love the wall pay the money to be on the floor..it's well worth it.
