PJ Tix are practically sold out in Boston. They opened up a section behind the stage.
Apparently thats the same with Columbus though, right?
How is Indy selling? I know thats not comparable to a stadium, I was just curious...
all of the pavillion seats were gone at 10am when they went on sale- have multile friends that were hitting refresh right at 10am and unable to get anything but lawn. at $22, i assume the lawn will sell well right up until showtime.
Caught the boys in Seattle last fall....flew there without tickets and picked some up the day of the show at the venue box office. Same seats as what's still available in KC (3 weeks before the show). I'm sure they'll play Seattle again someday. Now for OKC???? Doubt they'll be by here again. If they do travel south, I'll take em to see some basketball!
Wow, that is pretty weak that you can still pull 100 level tickets. I know they cant play all their shows on the weekends, but it does seem like they play a lot shows during the week which makes it harder for travel, etc... Still though, the fact that there are still 100 level tix available for one of these shows is crazy!
b) excuses of "I have to work in the morning" are weak. I live in Vegas - I flew up and back to Salt Lake and didn't miss work. A buddy of mine DROVE up (400+ miles) and DROVE home after the show. We both went to work the next day. Can't speak for him, but I wasn't too productive. :?
c) I'm going to Columbus for one show. Long way to go, but I'm going.
even if the midwest venues aren't sold out, I think Pearl Jam will be feeling the love.

I'm curious of where the OP lives/is attending shows.
I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure STL '03 didn't sell out, and hey, they're back. Pearl Jam isn't as huge as they once were, and people in the Midwest aren't the hugest fans of this style, anyway. And with ticket prices, people aren't going to just say "Hey, never heard of them/never seen them, let's go to the show."
It's been 6 years. We're overdue. It may be 6 years again or never, but it makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
Do you see the way that tree bends? Does it inspire?
maybe a thread like this will lower ticket prices for future shows? maybe its a sign of the ecomony?

Monday nights are a tough sell anywhere, for any band.
That's my thought. I mean... I know its hard to plan to that degree, but if you had KC on a weekend I bet it sells better.
Plus as others have said - the tickets are fairly expensive for fans that haven't been following them as much over the last few albums. Few people who are going to go to a show to hear 'Jeremy' are going to pay $75+ to do so.
Still though - I can't believe you can pull tickets in the 100s for KC.
I agree with this as well. Its strange how often we get ignored, and not just by this band. I am pretty sure its the second or third biggest market in the Midwest and the Xcel Center is pretty nice.

It's lame to use, but it's perfectly legit. Even if half the crowd loved or at least really wanted to see PJ, the other half is there just b/c it's something to do and not everybody needs somethin to do through the week.

These threads always bother me because everyone takes them so seriously... it always becomes a thinly veiled attempt to play a 'my city is better than yours' game ... really, is selling 2 shows out at MSG in a city of 6 bajillion people really a bigger accomplishment than getting one show of 17,000 at Indy? i don't know and i don't care...
PJ generally doesn't sell out arena shows in most cities anymore ... Columbia in 08 and Salt Lake City in 09 come to mind immediately ... 14,000 is still a solid crowd in a smaller market, so of course PJ would still want to play in places like that... wasn't one of the philly shows way below a sellout last year too?
Also, regarding Chicago last year and Boston this year, the only tickets unsold are behind the stage for the same price as floor seats ... not a great value to sit there for $90+ ... they could play six shows at each of those cities and get the same attendance because the sheer number of people within quick driving distance leads to a higher attendance naturally ...
The important part is that they are touring SOMEWHERE ... and i'll be wherever that is - maybe for one show, maybe for 5 shows
My step-daughter has a graduation to go to just down from the KC show, and I was thinking about going to it. I just checked TM, and I could have gotten section 5 Floor seats.
I just checked ticketmaster and couldn't believe that these shows are not sold out yet:
K.C had 2 tix in section 101 row 17 available
St. Louis had 2 in section 301 row B left
Columbus had a pair in 304 row E
This is bizzare. Will they sell out by showtime?
There two big name concerts in St. Louis that night. There is PJ (of course the show I am going to) and 30 Seconds to Mars are in town. That might have a little to do with tickets still being available.

Why is that weak??? Since I first stared going to concerts in the early 80's almost every venue releases tickets the day of the show or a few days before the show, this has been happening FOREVER! This is not a knock on any city on the tour, venues release tickets the day of the show for every concert.
When I saw Metallica in Houston a couple of years ago all of the people working at the box office were trying to tell everyone that had formed a line to buy the tickets that EVERYONE knew would be released that the show was SOLD OUT and NO TICKETS would be released. Needless to say no one left and guess what, they released about 20 pairs of tickets, everyone bought their tickets and basically told the people behind the ticket office to F-OFF!
So there is nothing "crazy" about tickets to the KC Pearl Jam show or any show for that matter having good seats available the day of the show, it's actually a very common thing to happen.
They usually only sell out a handful of shows. No shows outside Boston or NY will be sellouts, unless they are playin some smaller arenas. I don't think either Chicago show sold out last year. People were gettin tix til show time, right?
According to Billboard both Chicago 09 shows were 14,725 sell outs (info reported to them by the promoter), however from what I've been able to find the United Center can hold up to 23,500. I guess that depends what set up was used, but still a long way short from capacity.

I agree, SOLD OUT is so subjective, I toured around Europe following PJ in 2000 to so called SOLD OUT shows, lined up on the day and got in.

it seats 23,500 for sporting events. you lose everything behind the stage which is about a 1/6 of the uc so around 15k sounds about right when its all said and done. the only tix i could get were side stage or way back in 300 for the 2nd show. the first show was def a sellout from the amount of 10clubbers that had nosebleeds.

it seats 23,500 for sporting events. you lose everything behind the stage which is about a 1/6 of the uc so around 15k sounds about right when its all said and done. the only tix i could get were side stage or way back in 300 for the 2nd show. the first show was def a sellout from the amount of 10clubbers that had nosebleeds.
