Why didn't they just pop down to Walmart and buy one for $5 instead?

probably cuz they were waiting for them to be made in china ... ;)

i'm not the kind of person that views things like flags to be the sacred pieces some do ... if there was no malice - then i think a slap on the wrist is cool but on the other hand i know a lot of people don't see it the same way so ultimately whatever the pranksters get in terms of punishment they will have to take ...

As far as punishment goes, hopefully common sense prevails, replace the flag apologize and move on. The point I was trying to make is that people need to settle these disputes with minmal involvement from the police, it would save everybody headaches and then the police could concentrate on getting the real criminals off the street.

I agree with you about the flag.

That's very true about the Russians ... I think the figure is around 10 million military casualties in WW-II, which is mind-blowing.

Why wouldn't it be settled lawfully and reasonably? Just because a few people are upset and express anger at the Canadians doesn't mean our justice system is going to be taken over by a vigilante posse and a hanging judge.
Although I wonder how we ever managed to elect ze Governator sometimes

I never said it would be a vigilante posse, I just think this could be settled with an apology and the purchase of a new flag, problem solved without involving the courts and lawyers. When I was growing up thats how the police used to settle minor issues, now it's get the lawyers involved cost everybody whole shit load of money including the taxpayer, it was a prank, nothing more.

Screw per capita terms. How about the real numbers:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties

By that yard stick, the coolest cats in WW2 were Russia, Germany and China. Hell, Russia lost so many men that the russian demographic is skewed to this day with far more women than men.

As for the flag, it's just a flag. Bad taste on the part of the canadians, surely. Make them replace it, go right ahead. Throw in a fine for good measure in the size of what's the going rate for public urination or something.

    Peace

Tell that to ANYONE who has been in the military and has lost someone. It represents much more than "just a flag".

I'll bet you Canadians wouldn't give a shit till someone burned down all your hockey arenas...then, you'd probably all come down here with your snowballs and sleds.

Then, I'd just sit on my porch, flag waving, and say...it's just hockey.

    ps, new flag: 10 dollars
rebuilding every hockey rink in Canada: a lot more.

americans and their flags are HILARIOUS......

although i remember when Canada played USA in hockey - I think it was either world juniors or spangler cup - and the American team put our flag on the floor and walked across it...
So our team put the US flag on the floor the next game, and walked around it.
    Zing! Go us :)

The police are recommending charges, crazy, I hope the DA sees this a silly prank and tries to prevent this from getting before a judge.

Hard to believe their, but Americans are a little flag happy. I just can't believe at some point someone wouldn't tell them buy her a new flag and apologize and lets just move on. Wonder how much this is costing the taxpayers.

He was referring to the Morans, as in Erin Moran, Joanie of Happy Days fame - and they're morons. You've got to think outside the box to get into the head of teabaggers.
